    Applying for Citizenship from abroad

My question was "Why is that a proud thing to do?" in reference to this "No it just funny caz I saw you proudly commenting in every thread about your getting citizenship while staying overseas"

    Applying for Citizenship from abroad

I gave my experience, to aid others, there is nothing to suggest pridefulness in any of my posts. I was asked to give my experience, not your "friend"'s experience. So I can only give what i have experienced first hand. Whatever I'm willing to spend is my own choice and money may not be...

    Applying for Citizenship from abroad

Why is that funny? Perhaps you can provide more information on your friends experience. How was the interview, how did they recieve notification of their test and oath etc?

Application from outside Canada: Near the end of my process

Well that depends on how much money you have I guess. And how much you value having someone to watch your mail etc

Application from outside Canada: Near the end of my process

She asked me basically everything I did during the period. She asked me when I got married, where and whether my spouse was Canadian, she is not. I volunteered that I had a green card also, it didn't seem to make a difference. She asked when I got my green card, I got it after applying for...

It can be done, I have done it. I used a consultant, all correspondence went through them. I gave my residence abroad. No issues

Application from outside Canada: Near the end of my process

Thanks, I also wanted to add that I applied after I left Canada, I have seen people here worried about applying before they leave etc. I believe this is irrelevant, there is a well defined residency criteria, if you match it you can apply, even if you are living on the moon.

Application from outside Canada: Near the end of my process

Hi, I finally got my oath ceremony, the entire process was done while living outside of Canada. For the oath ceremony I will take a day off work and drive to and from Montreal, same day. I'm led to believe I can do land crossings into Canada without a passport, i can use my certificate? For...

Decision made for two months but no update

Passed interview on May18th, my status changed to "decision made" on July 12th, no updates since. Is that within reasonable bounds..if the decision is made, why no decision?!

Urgent Processing for Canadian citizenship to avoid losing job

As someone who has signed a contract with the provision that I am "willing to work anywhere in the world" and did end up in 3 different jurisdictions, it was always the companies responsibility to provide a visa. Do not let companies bully you into doing risky things like working on tourist...

International travel with Canadian passport - First impressions!

I find the US the worst. I have PR there and the last time I entered with my wife who is american and the two of us approach, I get slightly grilled, simple questions as usual and I get a cold grimace in response, nothing verbal, then he turns to her smiles and says welcome home, I just got the...

Urgent Processing for Canadian citizenship to avoid losing job

Not legal advise, just my opinion: If you are a full time employee, i.e. not an independent contractor, they cannot sack you because you do not have the correct visa to work in a new jurisdiction. If you tell them you cannot legally work in the US and they fire you, they have essentially fired...

    Leaving Canada after applying

I think "screwed" should be put in context here, I dont think it means your application will fail, if you satisfy all criteria, just that you will have to answer a lot of questions and be consistent and truthful in the interview and they could do some extra checks to ensure residency criteria is...

    I failed 1st test

Definitely read the text, then do those quick online practice tests until you get say 20/20 3 times in a row, checking sections in the text for questions you got wrong . That worked for me, however I have the huge advantage of having English as my first language, I can see how the condensed...

    Trips planned, no oath date

I see the spreadsheet average for montreal is over 40 days from DM to oath letter, then another 20 to oath date, so maybe I'll just wait it out.

    Trips planned, no oath date

Hi, I got DM from Montreal July 10th, no oath letter yet. I'm basically worried because I will be away on trips to BC and Europe: Aug 8th-14th and Aug 25th to Sept 2nd I've already put a lot of money into these trips and people are relying on me to travel etc. So I won't change them at this...
