    MAY 2014 OUTLAND Applicants

I received my COPR in the mail 4-5 days after ecas was changed to DM. I landed two days later at a land crossing at it seriously took less than 10 minutes. I have seen it is different depending on the VO but that is my experience. Congrats

Important OHIP eligibility info for all PR applicants residing in Ontario

I am sorry if I was confusing. At this point, I am just trying to start my waiting time when they started processing my application, not when they approved it. It would only get me OHIP a month sooner probably. I will just let it go probably lol. I was just wondering how I would appeal the...

    MAY 2014 OUTLAND Applicants

I received my passport request by email to the principal applicant. It appears that after the sponsor is approved, all other correspondence will go to the principal applicants email or address if you did not provide an email for the principal applicant. No need to apologize. There will be...

Important OHIP eligibility info for all PR applicants residing in Ontario

I did read them. I guess I just assumed I could not appeal unless I had a denial letter. I will just write to them appealing the waiting period. Thanks

    Visiting and getting married

I am from a visa exempt country so i cannot be 100 percent sure on your situation then but as long as you were not married at the time you crossed I dont see how it could ever come up as a problem. Even then you should be fine.

    MAY 2014 OUTLAND Applicants

I am the principal applicant and my spouse was approved to sponsor on July 22nd. I did not receive any correspondence from CIC until they requested my passport and then a week after that email my ECAS status was updated to "in process".

    Visiting and getting married

No you will be fine if they let you through. In the future though it is always best to be upfront and tell them the truth. If they find out you are lying they could make your life miserable by denying you entry or even making you inadmissible for a year.

    Border questions

When you come over this first time just tell them that he is staying until November 27th or whatever date you are going back. If you ask for six months now and then leave then whatever time they gave you originally will be void. From my experience and most I have read on here the IOs are...

Important OHIP eligibility info for all PR applicants residing in Ontario

Hey Rob you seem pretty knowledgeable with the posts you reply with so thank you. I have read all of those and that is what caused me to request something from CIC. I guess my issue is that now I am waiting on COPR (hopefully very soon) and so I was guessing that I won't be denied but my...

Important OHIP eligibility info for all PR applicants residing in Ontario

I applied outland for my Canadian spouse to sponsor me from the US. I tried to request from CIC something that said the date that they determined I 'was eligible to apply for PR" and they pretty much refused to give it to me. They said that it is for inland only. I only went back and forth...

Travelling by land to US with COPR

I think you misunderstood me. I am only wanting to go to the US for the day. I will remain living in Canada at the same address CIC has on file for me.

Travelling by land to US with COPR

Thank you. I thought it should be ok but I just wanted a little piece of mind. If I just show them my US passport and COPR when I am coming back into Canada that will be sufficient?

    Medical exam

Re: Medial exam Well first off what did you apply for? If your spouse is sponsoring you then they cannot refuse you because of medical issues. If you applied another way I would take a letter from your surgeon stating the prognosis of your condition. Usually a herniated disc surgery is pretty...

Travelling by land to US with COPR

I am a US citizen who was recently approved for PR. I applied outland if that makes a difference. I was wondering if I would have issues travelling by car to and from the US/Canada with just the COPR? I heard it takes 6 weeks to get the actual PR card and I cannot wait to see my friends any...

    Waiting for Permanent Residency

It all depends on the IO you get at the border. The first time I went to the US and came back the IO only gave me 6 weeks. I applied for two extensions since then and got 6 months both times. If I were you, I would only chance leaving Canada if you would be ok if you were denied entry back in...

    MAY 2014 OUTLAND Applicants

Thanks everyone! Does anyone know how long it takes to get the COPR in the mail? Also I was wondering if anyone has any experience travelling by land to the US and back with just the COPR. I know it takes like 6 weeks to get my PR card but will the Canada side allow me to enter Canada with...

Inland vs. Outland permanent residency applications for US citizens

I left the visa office blank. It did not take anywhere near 16 weeks for my FBI clearance. I believe it took 4-6 weeks actually. Since you have to send the original clearance and cannot just email it, I would suggest just waiting and sending a complete package. I have seen other people who...

Inland vs. Outland permanent residency applications for US citizens

I am a US citizen in Canada on a visitor visa. We applied outland on May 16th and I just received my decision today. So the whole process took under 5 months. Inland applications since August of last year havent even been looked at yet. Apply outland!
