One of my friend got PPR in 90 days since his file transfer at NDVO.

It depends on officers yet its optional task in file process. Actually, Physical inquiry or employer inquiry is not mandatory. they did randomly check with employers. As per your question, I would like to say Yes, They can made inquiry to your previous employer as well.
