American outland applicant crossing border to Canada

It's a document they stapled into my passport that explained my situation and gave me a six month allowance to stay in Canada (but the allowance is to their discretion. Could be a month could be a year, I've read mix things for different situations) On the document it provided the address on...

American outland applicant crossing border to Canada

Good evening, Cdnpr2017! I am a US citizen and went through the process of becoming a Canadian PR through Outland. I crossed daily for two years and was given my fair share of issues, but I have to say, I was given a much easier time crossing when I had my application going and everything paid...

My experience obtaining a visitors record (not so scary after all)

That makes me so happy to hear, I'm glad my post helped you!! I was a absolute wreck when asking for one, I didn't know what was going to happen just because all the stories I read on here were bad, so when I obtained one I had to share the good side of things. Especially if it's going to help...

My experience obtaining a visitors record (not so scary after all)

Well I have nexus so I don't get trouble at all usually, but I've crossed twice since having the VR and the first time the guy just asked if I had anything to declare and I was on my way, didn't even look at it. Then today the guy asked where I lived and I told him that I have a home in Michigan...

What do you use for cell phone when visiting Canada?

If you have t-mobile in Houston I'd highly suggest switching to them. I'm currently with t-mobile and with every plan they have you can use your 4G data for no charge, unlimited calling and unlimited texting while you're in Canada and in Mexico! I stay in Canada but travel back and forth to...

My experience obtaining a visitors record (not so scary after all)

I'm not entirely sure on your odds for obtaining one because when we did it we had our fees paid and our application in hand, they wanted to see our receipt but the lady didn't skim through our app, I think it just helped for her to see we had it done and will be sending it in. I'd get most of...

My experience obtaining a visitors record (not so scary after all)

I'd honestly recommend asking the border for one in your situation! Especially since you already have the application in progress and want to work in the U.S. and not Canada. We live near the tunnel in Windsor and I cross Monday-Friday for school and work so it is impossible for me to just stay...

My experience obtaining a visitors record (not so scary after all)

Hey guys, I just wanted to share my experience obtaining a visitors record yesterday as our spousal application is being shipped off today! This may help someone who's in a similar situation or help someone gain some insight, but again, everyone's experience is different so this is just mine...

    Common law residency-US/Canadian

I guess I never looked at it that way, the officer just startled me by saying it was impossible unless we got married because it's illegal for me to live there, so he asked how could we have started our PR application through common-law if it's illegal. I just never really had an issue crossing...

    U.S./Canadian relationship

Thank you! This is really helpful! I'm still enrolled in school so I have my schedule printed off and my summer schedule printed off as well along with some recent mail with my name and address to my home in the states.

    U.S./Canadian relationship

No, it helped but I never asked: "Because it is illegal for me to "live" in Canada, just allowed to visit, how do I even go about telling them we applied the common-law route? That would mean I have been living illegally in Canada for the last year and I'm sure that will raise some questions at...
