    Question about landing and times

Sorry - where's the map? We are wanting to cross at Rainbow Bridge - or a nearby crossing, I think there is another one 20 minutes away from Rainbow Bridge that would also be fine if it was 24/7, especially.

    Question about landing and times

I was wondering if a person is able to land at any hour, 24/7, or if you have to land during a sort of 'business hour' time period? Obviously there are going to be guards at the border 24/7 to protect canada/america, but specifically can I land and have that paperwork done at any time, too...

I just wanted to update again. I got my case notes, and it appears that perhaps the real holdup in my case was that they needed to do a police check for Canada, and I guess it took a while. This is because I had been a visitor in Canada for over a year by that time, about 1.5 years (I kept...

    US outland applicants' thread :)

I just updated Ottawa thread - I got my COPR today (Tuesday)! YAY! I'm currently deciding between Rainbow Bridge landing versus office appointment landing. I'm living in Ontario on visitor status. (Implied status now, as I had a visitor status extension application in). Anyone have ideas or...

I wanted to update to everyone that I got my COPR today (Tuesday) this afternoon. It's all good! I thought maybe the envelope was too thin, but then I remembered I wasn't applying for university.... I hope to land at the Rainbow Bridge, or via appointment. I'm not sure which is better. We'd...

    US outland applicants' thread :)

Mine took about 9 months for DM, and I was definitely in the minority (at least of people who posted on this forum). Most people were taking 4-7 months. Four is probably rare, and five is becoming kind of common with a complete application. In May for this forum I am pretty sure I was the last...

    US outland applicants' thread :)

These days with a complete application, if they don't need any extra documents I've been seeing US people get through in 4 months. It's pretty sweet. I wouldn't expect 4 months or anything, but it's possible and it's happening a lot.

You don't receive an EMail for DM, I'm sorry. I haven't gotten my COPR yet but from everything I am reading here it appears you just get it in the snail mail to the mailing address listed on your ECAS. In order to see your application status you log into ECAS. If you are expecting your papers to...

You either need a job or prove you earn enough to care for her. For example, if you don't have a job, you would need to have very substantial savings, secure investments that give you interest to live off of, or some other means of money. You cannot be a part of any social help programs in...

Yes, thanks so much Char! +1 for helpful possible letter format to use. If I don't get any mail by tomorrow night I'll probably send them this note, it's scary when you have a decision but don't know if it's in your favour or not!

That's good news! The batch email is definitely a sign you're getting close. Since you already paid I'd go ahead and send the proof if I were you, just in case. If they ask a second time you'll go in the back of the line.

NICE! That's the best news ever. I'm so happy for you! What exactly did you EMail in order to get this reply?

Yeah it can really stink. You might be lucky - some people were asked wrongly for a file, and they got notice within a few weeks and a DM! So maybe you'll be a lucky one, we can only hope!! I don't think you need a Canada police clearance, they will do that on their end for you. Just USA and...

    1. Mine got updated on a holiday. A sunday night / Monday early morning. Not a Tuesday. I've seen people get an update on Sunday's on normal weeks. So, it's definitely not just on Tuesday. The one common thing I see again and again is I really think they update ECAS after midnight (Ottawa time)...

This happened to me. They sent their request EMail just a short while after I mailed them the FBI check they wanted. The process ended up taking way longer for me than others in my group due to this. I think they put your file on hold until the allotted time is up. From what I understand, it...

Thank you!! I was thrilled when you got yours, too, I mean, we were both so late and it was so scary! Now I'm like you, waiting for the COPR. I feel like it won't be real unless I have the COPR in my hands to really know that my decision was a good one. I'm paranoid about not being asked for...

    US outland applicants' thread :)

Got DM this morning and checked ECAS twice more since then. I don't even know. To make sure it was really there, maybe? But probably it's because I am JamesinCanada and I am an Ecasaholic. Maybe I'll settle down whenever the COPR arrives.

I got a DM this morning, too! They also did not ask me for photographs. At least not yet. They will mail it to your listed mailing address in ECAS. So if you used a lawyer for example the COPR would go to the lawyer's mailing address. Since you're US like me you probably didn't use a lawyer...

I wanted to update Ottawa, too, I got a DM today! Feb. 15th. I am excited, but I keep worrying it's bad news! They didn't ask for new photos. I'll wait and see what comes in the mail, but I am mostly sure it's going to be my COPR.

    MAY 2015 Spouse Application OUTLAND

Hey everyone! I got a DM this morning! YAY! What a nice surprise on "Family Day" here in Ontario where I've been visiting. I sure hope it's good news. They never asked for photos, at least not yet. Hopefully I'll have a COPR in the mail in the next couple weeks. *fingers crossed* I really hope...
