hi, my mother got a passport request for PR. VFS India has a web form to submit that letter and they will advise for pickup and drop off of passport. I am curious if someone else has done this recently and what is the typical time taken?

I called them on Friday and I saw oath invite on my ECAS, the next Tuesday. Pretty quick by CIC standard!

You call the regular number, they take the request and forward it to the concerned office. The office then schedule it. The lady, however, did tell me that since it is past 12 months and decision is made, they will "manually" schedule me in the next available slot. So looks like for these edge...

Congrats! CIC have met their 12 months metrics. Now whatever wait time you have for Oath doesn't count to anything.
