    INLAND APPLICATIONS 2013

Landed in CIC-Ottawa on Tuesday, January 27, 2015. For sure it is a busy spot. Appointment was scheduled at 10:30. Got there at 10am. Didn't get called until noon. Once we got to the window, it only took 10 minutes. Make sure that you pay enough for parking! Good luck to everyone else who's...

    INLAND APPLICATIONS 2013

Just an update on my case processing time: I'm a March applicant and received DM on October 17, 2014. The local office assigned for my interview is Ottawa. So far I've not received any landing interview notifications. I've called CIC in December since the 6-week turnaround time has passed for...

Can anyone get through CIC call centre this morning? I've tried to call them since 8am and, apparently they've been experiencing high volume of calls...

    INLAND APPLICATIONS 2013

Congratulations! When did you receive DM? Has anyone recently received DM and have Ottawa contact you for the landing interview? My DM was received on Oct 17 and I'm still waiting for the interview to be scheduled..... What's going on CIC Ottawa?!

Big congratulations! I'm still waiting for the interview notice from Ottawa. It is taking them forever. How long did it take for you to get your notice after DM?

    INLAND APPLICATIONS 2013

You cannot go back to work after leaving the country! You will lose your implied status once you leave Canada! Coming back to work will become illegal unless you receive the OWP while you are gone. CIC says: If a temporary resident applies for renewal of their work or study permit and their...

    INLAND APPLICATIONS 2013

Folks, if you leave Canada under implied status, don't you lose your status all together?! I think the concern here is more related to what status you will get when you return? And how long the new status will be good for?

    INLAND APPLICATIONS 2013

Yes, I agree. OWP does offer lots of convenience. Except that leaving Canada before landing interview is still a risk.

    INLAND APPLICATIONS 2013

I've made two observations on the recent posts: (1) OWP validity period has increased comparing to the OWPs issued early this year. My OWP was issued in January 2014 and is good for 2 years. I've seen people with only 1-year OWP back in January. From what I've seen now, CIC are now giving out...

TRV is temporary resident visa - a sticker on your passport - to let you into Canada. You can only obtain a visa once you establish a valid status in Canada (i.e. student, worker etc.). PGWP is a work permit/status that allows you to work in Canada. A permit does not allow you to enter the...

    INLAND APPLICATIONS 2013

Back in Feb/March, the processing time for TRV was only 2 weeks. If you are to apply now, just use the timeline on their website.

But I thought the requirement for inland processing is that the sponsor and the spouse are co-habiting over the duration of the processing. Just be cautious how long the sponsor will be gone.

    INLAND APPLICATIONS 2013

OWP is not a visa and you won't be able to cross the border with only a work permit!

    INLAND APPLICATIONS 2013

You should be able to obtain a TRV once you have the OWP.

    INLAND APPLICATIONS 2013

Yes. CIC says they don't recommend that you travel outside of Canada. However, many people have done it (as long as you return within a very short period of time), including myself. It hasn't caused any problems in our processing. But I applied for a one-entry TRV just to show that it is not...

    INLAND APPLICATIONS 2013

I applied for TRV after I received OWP from Stage 1 approval. No problem getting that visa. But that was in March that I applied - may not be as recent. Hope it help.s
