Hello all, Just an update- My wife submitted her passport on March 18 in person to Canadian embassy Abu dhabi. They took her passport and issued a return aramex receipt and told her it will take up to 10 business days to get the passport :D

Thanks Tamyboy!!. I am Pakistan citizen so as my wife. I was bit worried that background check takes longer than normal for Pakistani citizens but AlhamduliALLAH got PPR within 4.5 months. InshaAllah praying for rest of you as well.

Indeed the officer will know if the person has an immigration file in process but he doesnt know the outcome of that file. If the person is in Canada and for some reason their immigration file is rejected they can apply for humantarian or refugee. I guess thats the reason they want to see prove...
