I'm sorry you are disappointed that we have more in common with the Americans than the USSR.

No it's not about people with "money" enjoying more rights. Tax payers are not the rich, they are by enlarge the middle class. You realize that as a percentage of income middle class tax payers pay more than the rich? Taxes on dividends and capital gains are only around 15% in Canada. The rich...

No it does matter, because you think it's perfectly okay to have no say with what others do with your money. I wanted to see if you actually had any skin in the game. I would care a lot less about voting if I wasn't paying into the system.

New rules are in my opinion better than the old rules. Under the old rules you needed to be in Canada 75% of the time (3/4 years) to qualify. I far prefer the new rules. That doesn't mean I agree that we should never extend citizenship to anyone out the country more than 33% of the time.

No everyone does NOT pay taxes when they make income. It depends on how much income you make, and what deductibles apply to you. I found this study http://www.urbanfutures.com/tax-payers/ on BC here is an excerpt: In 2009 there were an estimated 3,808,269[3] persons aged 15 plus in British...

Again you continue making it up. No I applied ONCE for citizenship in 2011 not TWICE. Like many 2011 applicants mine took 3+ years to process. Out of sheer curiosity how much income tax did you pay last year?

Thank you very much for your reply. Just to confirm: If they are included on the application and flagged as non-accompanying they DO NOT fall under the 20 year obligation?

You know how I accuse you of making stuff up in your tiny head to suit your agenda? I AM A CANADIAN CITIZEN. Check my post history. Furthermore I did APPLY at the earliest possible opportunity, but because I travel on BUSINESS my physical presence days were insufficient to apply after 3 years...

To become a citizen you must be in the country for 4 years out of the last 6 years according to Bill C24 or 66% of the total time. http://www.parl.gc.ca/About/Parliament/LegislativeSummaries/bills_ls.asp?ls=c24&Parl=41&Ses=2 Do you just make stuff up in your head to suit your worldview...

I have a car therefore I can drive on the road. Does that mean because you have a motor-cycle you cannot? I never said paying taxes should be a pre-condition for citizenship only that it should be sufficient for citizenship. Obviously this subtle but important distinction is far too complicated...

"I am only applying your reasoning of "deserve citizenship because you pay taxes" logic. That would means or imply that those who don't pay taxes don't deserve a right to canadian citizenship" No it does NOT imply that. That is a story you made up in your head. If I said "All dogs deserve a...

@screech339 You continue to draw false equivalences and employ flawed logic in order to try and defend an INDEFENSIBLE position: 1. Saying "All tax payers should have a vote" is not the same as saying "People who don't pay taxes shouldn't vote" 2. Having access to services does not justify...

That distinction is completely meaningless. Whether or not the people benefiting from my money belong to the same geopolitical entity that I inhabit makes no difference to me. They may as well ship it all off to Great Britain. The fact that I could theoretically access such services is not the...

    Effective date of Bill C24

Sure man I'm out of here. Enjoy living in your conspiratorial dream world where you think some bogey men lured you to a far away place so they could make a few bucks off you in fees only to make you miserable and pay thousand in welfare because they are just a bunch of evil racists.

You actually have it backwards. NZ and Australia modeled its immigration system after Canada. Canada invented the points based system. And yes the US system is completely different however it is comparable. The problem with the Canadian system is the government chooses workers for the private...

Here's why are you wrong: Assertion 1: "The government has provided a clear path for you to become a citizen" - It does not my application was pending for 3.5 years with zero explanation that is not "clear" path Assertion 2: "Your taxes fund the social services you and your family use, and have...
