Okay, I found the answer on CIC web, for anyone who has the same problem. I can still use my expired SIN number until i get a new permit, then I can renew the SIN card.

does that mean i have to stop working until i get renew SIN card?

I currently have a work permit which expire soon. I know that I can work and stay in Canada, as long as i apply for work visa before the expiration of my last work visa. My question is, while I am waiting for new visa, how do i renew my SIN card, without any work permit?
