Can we land at a port of entry and get our PR card on a weekend?

Rob _TO thanks a lot, I will contact the Eligibility Review board before making an application with CoPR. Next stop Rainbow Bridge.

Can we land at a port of entry and get our PR card on a weekend?

Rob_TO thanks for the information. While I have your ear - why do we have to wait 3 months after PR landing for OHIP? I was under the impression that people who had already been here a while and received 'implied status' could apply, so isn't the waiting period already elapsed by the time you...

Can we land at a port of entry and get our PR card on a weekend?

Okay thanks Rob_TO that's clear, we wait for the card to arrive in either case. We will use Niagara so it may be busy, but it will fortunately be open. Incidentally, I didn't know we could start applying for all kinds of things with just the flappy paper CoPR. Does this include OHIP or will...

Can we land at a port of entry and get our PR card on a weekend?

Sorry by zero status I just meant she wasn't holding a working holiday visa or visitor's permit or something already issued, so even though it was handled at CPC Ottawa and not Manilla it had to be outland by definition. So the consensus is the borders are open 24/7 so applying for the PR card...

Can we land at a port of entry and get our PR card on a weekend?

We did apply outland but we arrived as soon as I was approved as a sponsor and our process was done at CPC Ottawa. I am thinking officially we are outland because my wife had zero status in Canada prior to the application and we applied from overseas.

Can we land at a port of entry and get our PR card on a weekend?

Sorry dumb question time. I would like to know if it is possible to "land" (we are already in Canada) at a port of entry on a weekend and get your PR card using your CoPR and passport. The reason I ask is because the alternative is to schedule an appointment with a local office, but this will...

How long does final stage take for visa-exempt countries?

Thanks for the replies. Well it's funny, the day I posted this I came home and we had received her CoPR. So yes, the answer is you do not receive your PR card you receive a certificate. We now have to "land" (we are already here) and get the PR card issued. I called them and they said there is...

Anyone know how long 'final stage' takes to complete? After sending in the passport copy and photos etc., how long before something comes back from Ottawa? Does the PR card itself come back? Thanks

How long does final stage take for visa-exempt countries?

Hi, We were asked to submit a passport photocopy and the Appendix A and some photos. We sent all that and I was just curious how long I can expect to wait. Also, what are we going to receive back? Since we sent photos, is the next thing we receive going to be the actual PR Card? Applicant is...

    Cost?

http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/resources/tools/fees/schedule.asp#3 Check here. Yes, this is the fee I couldn't remember in my above post. So the total is around $1000, actually it cost us $1500 because I paid $500 in translation fees for English copies of all the relevant documents. They do...

"not satisfied that your sponsor intends to reside in Canada"

I would send all of this and clearly write out your intentions in the form of a short-term plan of sorts. I can only speak from experience but I was in a similar situation as you with less resources and got approved. My wife is from Japan and we applied last summer around the same time as you...

Proof of intention to return to Canada

There is no set formula but I think that, as with any short-term plan, a clearly laid out intention is the best. In my case as a sponsor, I laid out the job I wanted, the field, the qualifications I had for this job, the timeline I expected to need to get this job, etc. Then I included a couple...

    Cost?

Yes the costs on the website are correct, the cost for the principal applicant is quite high. My receipt was for $1040 for my wife. It was the $450 plus something else. I think you may be missing something, I think the cost is higher than just $550, please double check. As for keeping track...

Just thought I would let people know. Our application was received July 24 2014 and we received final stage notice October 9 2015. Not sure how long it is until the end of the tunnel but for others who have files in the system with Ottawa and applied around the same time (summer 2014), you may...

Made direct appeal/application for OHIP to Eligibility Review Board - how long?

Ok well actually today when I got home I received a letter asking me to sign more forms for CIC disclosure. It seems like they are willing to consult with CIC but, as you say, they may reject me after all. But would they not reject me automatically having only GCMS notes and not bother moving...

Made direct appeal/application for OHIP to Eligibility Review Board - how long?

Yes this is what I am trying to do. I was hoping that since we are being processed at CIC Ottawa, living in Ontario and in the PR process and are Recommended Passed this would be acceptable because these are all the same conditions as an Inland application. Officially though we applied...

Made direct appeal/application for OHIP to Eligibility Review Board - how long?

I read up on 27 and it said that is for temporary workers. This is for my wife so it is not 27, it is spousal class. Also not a renewal but a first application based on passed eligibility. Thanks

Made direct appeal/application for OHIP to Eligibility Review Board - how long?

Hi there, Using the GCMS notes and the information on this forum I was able to make a direct appeal to the Eligibility Review Board. I was wondering - for people who have done this how long did your process take? The Service Ontario office only provided me with a fax number so I faxed my...

How do I read these GCMS notes?

Senorita Bella thanks that cleared it up. The notes must be read from the bottom up numerically to see the updates and notes in order. Item 1 will always be the newest, Item 17 would actually be the oldest. After re-reading it like this, I can see we are only waiting on Criminality and...
