    Citizenship by birth?

Awesome. Thank you. This applies even if only one of the parents were Canadian, correct?

    Citizenship by birth?

Hi everyone, just a question that needs clarification. I've pored over the CIC website over these laws but am still having a hard time with it. I know someone in a situation as follows: He is a naturalized citizen (born in Korea, came to Canada at a young age). Currently living overseas...

    Flagpoling at Douglas/Peacearch

As my wife will be receving her COPR very very soon, I figured I'd better brush up on flag polling. We are planning on doing it at the Douglas/Peacearch border crossing, however I noticed on the CBSA website (http://www.cbsa-asfc.gc.ca/do-rb/services/imm-eng.html) that there are very few...

Sponsoring my Korean wife for permanent residency

HOLY CRAP! We just got back from vacation yesterday, and I checked my status thing like I do every week to see...and I see that my wife's PR application status has changed to: DECISION MADE !!! When I click the link, the information remains the same, nothing has changed from the last time...

Sponsoring my Korean wife for permanent residency

Just wondering is it normal to not hear from CIC regarding the application once all documents and such have been sent in? They did require us to re-send the criminal background check in November, but it has been all quiet since then.

Sponsoring my Korean wife for permanent residency

So my wife needed to resubmit the police background check, but at the local police station, they said they aren't doing the lapsed criminal history one anymore? Something about new legislation taking effect on the 13th or so? Anyone know anything about this?

Sponsoring my Korean wife for permanent residency

Probably no problems, but my wife went once while her application was pending and she got interviewed on her way back into Canada. She's going to Korea again, and I imagine on her return to Canada she will be interviewed yet again. Some questions they asked her: 1. Are you going to work? 2...

Sponsoring my Korean wife for permanent residency

So we had my wife's certificate of entry/exit and police records sent over to Manila the other day, and I guess we wait now. I guess we could say my timeline so far is: Application sent: 5/1/15 Med: Sent with Application Fees: Paid with Application Sponsorship: Still waiting Docs: Requested...

Sponsoring my Korean wife for permanent residency

Not really sure since we included it with the original application, but I guess they want a new one along with certificate of entry/exit. Does it matter if it has expired when they go to look at it, as long as it was submitted when it was actually valid? (i.e.: has a validity of 6 months, but...

Sponsoring my Korean wife for permanent residency

My wife had one done just in case back in May when she was last in Korea...that would bring us to just a little over a month before the 6 month window closes... Should I risk sending the one that will expire in a month, or get a new one?

Sponsoring my Korean wife for permanent residency

Hmm good to know. Thanks! How recent should the police background check be?

Sponsoring my Korean wife for permanent residency

Actually, is there a time limit as to the "freshness" of a criminal record check? My wife had one done when she went back in May (just in case)...would that still be considered valid?

Sponsoring my Korean wife for permanent residency

So it looks like our file was sent to and received by the Manila office! Just got the email today, and they are requesting two documents, and I have a question regarding one of them. 1. Original Police certificate (should be simple enough to get, not too worried about this) 2. Certificate of...

Sponsoring my Korean wife for permanent residency

Right, visitor status, not visa. So, if we cross the border into the states, does that refresh her visitor status for another 6 months, even if we are only gone for a few hours, or does she have to fly out ( still have a return ticket to Korea) for it to refresh?

Sponsoring my Korean wife for permanent residency

So, after sending in a cover letter with my application last time, they have started processing our application on Sept.8. Finally! I guess we are just playing the waiting game now? Just a couple remaining questions. Since we have applied as 'outland'... My wife's visitor visa runs out in...
