Yes, that's crazy! You are a research assistant so you're assisting him! Anyways, I think a letter from the department is fine but you should add "As a research assistant, he assists Prof ... in ..." and add detailed description of both RA and TA duties which match with NOC descriptions (but not...

Are you sure about #2? I was told by CIC call centre that my study permit and visitor visa won't be valid after landing. It made sense to me because one cannot be a landed immigrant and a visitor/student at the same time. I would definitely double check that.

I agree others on the "continuous" thing and I'd also decrease the number of hours. By applying through skilled worker class, you are claiming that RA is a work experience separate than your PhD studies, it's something you do on top of your studies. Then I think even 35 hours is a lot. I claimed...

Honestly I don't think national ID is critical and your application would be rejected because it is missing. I have a national ID and I didn't even include that in my application! My application included my passport and my birth certificate which include all the info that is on my national ID...

I'm not entirely sure if RA and TA can be treated as the same job. Yes, they are in the same NOC code but I remember posts in the past that say one of them should be continuous and equivalent to 1560 hours. How about you get a letter from your supervisor instead? Many of us didn't/couldn't get a...

+- 10 days, based on my experience if your file doesn't go to a verification process. This happened to a friend and he waited for months. Normal processing time is usually not more than 40 days.

Not sure which experience to use as primary one but either way I would get a new letter from supervisor. I have been in this forum for more than 1.5 years and this kind of rejection was especially common when I first joined. There was a google doc with successful letter templates somewhere on...

Finally received the PR card. Now my PR journey is completely done. Good luck to you all! For others waiting for their card, I landed on October 8th and received my card on November 7th. So it took exactly 1 month.

Believe me, you don't need to complete that section. I didn't and my application went just fine.

I am not sure about that part. I'd think so but I'd double check with other members of the forum who are knowledgeable about the subject and CIC call center.

You HAVE TO inform them. The first email you received from CIC on eligibility and transfer to visa office says: "Please inform the visa office of any changes in your application (e.g. birth or adoption of a child, marriage or common-law relationship, new occupation or employer, change of...

Then I would send the photocopy of diplomas to the centralized intake office right away with a letter explaining the situation. They are the ones checking if your application is complete and they may send the application back if they think it is incomplete.

By certificates, do you mean your diplomas? And did you get the first email from CIC saying that your application is transferred to the visa office?

He means "travel document" actually. I have the same issue and I researched extensively. Your current TRV visa and study permit will be void right after you land. The officer won't take them from you or cross them but they will appear invalid in their system. I asked the CIC call center and the...

Yeah, I know. If it wasn't for this forum, I wouldn't know that bank statement/employment letter is required for landing! That's all they asked at the border, and based on what I read before, others had a similar experience. Btw you would also need some change (less then $10) to cross the border.

Officer at the border asked me to present employment letter OR bank statements. So I got the impression that it would be OK if I had an employment letter stating my salary. However, I just presented my bank statements showing that I have more than the minimum amount required.

Yes to both of your questions. Couple people shared their landing experiences in detail in the last 10 page or so of the forum.
