    BOGOTA Office Visa Applicants 2014

I'm going to write this here in case anyone needs to do something similar in the future: For "flagpoling" between Canada/U.S. we drove to the Peace Arch border crossing and parked in the BC Tourism Centre parking lot on the left hand side. We then walked by the Canadian Border Services building...

    BOGOTA Office Visa Applicants 2014

Yeah super happy! :D The application went "in process" in early January, and it actually still says "in process"....criminal record checks were requested like mid-january and passport requested at the end of march. I wouldn't trust the ecas system very much after it's "in process".

    BOGOTA Office Visa Applicants 2014

My spouse just receive her Colombian passport today from VO-Bogota with her Permanent Residence Visa! And apparently since she already resides within Canada, she can either get an appointment at a local CIC office, which takes 5-6 months, or simple "flagpole" it at the U.S. border, which is what...

    BOGOTA Office Visa Applicants 2014

No interview was requested. We just sent it via fedex using a friend's account number. It should arrive in two days and we included the return waybill. Will let you all know how that turns out.

    BOGOTA Office Visa Applicants 2014

Hi everyone, Just wanted to share some good news with this group: My common-law partner (Colombian) received an email from VO-Bogota requesting her passport and the email says, "We are now ready to issue your Permanent Resident visa"! So we are understandably very thrilled. We applied in...

    Spousal sponsorship

Hi everyone, We're about to send off our application for me to sponsor my common-law partner from Colombia, both currently living in Canada. We are sending it outland, as the processing time is a few months faster now, probably as a result of the strike affecting certain offices and not...

    Spousal sponsorship

Right, thanks for the reassurance computergeek. Also, if you'd be so kind, what documents should she have legalized and translated to bring with her to Canada in case I apply to sponsor her? I know of the birth certificate and university studies. I understand the police certificate would have...

    Spousal sponsorship

Thanks computergeek. It's true that she never lied, but in all the paperwork submitted for a TRV she proved that she would return to Colombia, as that is the first requirement for a TRV, but all those documents were real, and really a back-up plan in case she would return to Colombia. I'm not...

    Spousal sponsorship

Hi, I am worried about misrepresentation. I am a Canadian citizen and my Colombian girlfriend of more than 4 years has applied for a TRV and if approved, we plan to land in Canada and apply for inland sponsorship. When she applied we were not in a common-law relationship, but when she lands in...

    Study Permit after "AIP"?

OK, but it's not a problem to apply for a Study Permit while inside Canada with an inland application for spousal sponsorship under review...after the first stage approval?

    Study Permit after "AIP"?

OK, but you'd have to have some offer of acceptance from the University then right? Could you apply for the Study Permit at any time while inside Canada and waiting for the "AIP" or is that a problem?

    Study Permit after "AIP"?

Hi, I've read here that you can apply for an Open Work Permit when applying for sponsorship (spouse) and be permitted to work once you get the "AIP", for an inland application. But I was wondering if you could also apply for something like an Open Student Permit as well, so that you can be...

Colombian wanting to study in Canada

TOEFL prep is about 3 months, full-time study. Another option is to just apply for another TRV, and then I could eventually sponsor her and once she gets "AIP" she could get a study permit as well, from what i understand, once she's accepted to McMaster.

Colombian wanting to study in Canada

I just realized that the program at McMaster only accepts TOEFL. In any event, the exam prep courses in Colombia cost the same as the ones in Canada, and are at an obvious disadvantage in that they are not taught by native English speakers and also you are not in a native English speaking...

Colombian wanting to study in Canada

Also, she plans to stay at my parents house in Vancouver, to save on rent. We will include a letter from my parents inviting her to stay there while she takes the English Language class. They did the same thing when she came to visit on a TRV and it was fine. The financial support is therefore...

Colombian wanting to study in Canada

Hi, I've searched and read many posts but still couldn't find a concrete answer to my query so here goes: My Colombian girlfriend is planning to come to Canada to do a Master's degree, but first she needs to pass the TOEFl or IELTS, so she's first planning to take some exam preparation course...
