Update: Heard back from the Embassy and they approved the request for extension to submit expiring passport. They also mentioned the validity of the visa that will be issued (which is 60 days from the expiry date of the expiring passport that was originally submitted with the PR application). :)

Hi, how did you send your mom's passport (and will you be picking it up when available or scheduled for delivery)? Did you opt for courier service from VFS?

I saw from the Document Checklist - Manila VO Instructions (IMM 5877E) that proof of financial support is not required only if the applicant has been to Canada in the last 10 years or currently hold a valid (non-expired) US Visa. They call this as the CAN+ Expedited Program.
