****August 2019 - Inland Spousal PR + OWP****

Thank you for pointing me to the thread. Fingers crossed. Anyways, it's out of our hands and time is the only factor now. I've heard Etobicoke office taking 6 to 12 months to finish processing since the date of file receipt lol

After we got a DM on the SA side on March 19, we got another update today April 23 on the PA side. Apparently, the PA application was transferred to Etobicoke. Our original CPC is Mississauga, and our application was received August 23, 2019. Please let us know if anyone else is in the same...

I received SA status update on ECAS on March 19, right in the middle of when the whole social distancing has taken place. However, I still haven’t received the SA letter. My lawyer did say IRCC is working with skeleton staff for at least till mid-April. Normal processing time no longer applies...

Hi there, I think I know where the confusion comes in. Permit and Visa serve two different purposes. Please see this page: https://www.canada.ca/en/immigration-refugees-citizenship/services/work-canada/permit/temporary/extend/travel-outside-canada.html Simply put, if you come back from your...

This one wholly depends on the processing agent's mood, unfortunately. I don't think it will affect your PR application, but more than likely it will affect your OWP application, i.e. if they return your OWP application, you have to resubmit the OWP application and longer wait for the OWP.

I think some others on this thread have posted about submitting OWP after submitting PR application (or somewhere else in this forum). Try and look for them. My lawyer strongly advised me to apply for OWP at the same time of the PR application. So glad we did because we only needed to include...

Hey -- congrats on your partner's new job. Yes, he should notify CIC, and he should be both the Applicant and Enquirer. When I changed my marital status for my Parents/Grandparents sponsorship, the Applicant was me, and the Enquirer was my lawyer (even though the Applicant is my Parents and...

Make sure you read the latest instructions on how and where to submit your OWP after you've submitted the PR application that's right to your specific situation. https://www.cic.gc.ca/english/helpcentre/answer.asp?qnum=1163&top=17 Does your partner have a passport that doesn't require a visa...

Hi -- I have a lawyer working on my file too, I'll share what happens when I tried to link to MyCIC. In short, you can't link your application online to your MyCIC without removing your representative. If you use MyCIC and find your application and try to link it, they will say that you have a...

Hey! As someone mentioned above, your work permit is effective already when you receive it and you can change your job whenever you want. You should take your work permit to Service Canada because anytime there's a change in immigration status, you should update your SIN. Even though the number...

You're very welcome! Also, thanks to you, I just went in to check when my Nexus expires and just did my renewal And yes, normal customs process! However, you are still required to let CBSA know of your legal status change here in Canada, so make the update sooner rather than later. You can just...

The PR card will wholly depend on when you "land" and receive your Confirmation of Permanent Residence document (CoPR). AOR confirmation has nothing to do with it. Current processing time of first/new PR card is 26 days as of November 3, 2019. For example, you applied for PR on January 1, 2019...

Hi -- I'm also a member of Nexus. You are required to update your immigration status with Nexus before you leave the country. This will warrant a trip to the airport Nexus office. And if I were you, I would always bring work permit with me (just fold it in your passport)...

Did you call CIC? You should have received yours by now! Sometimes the call centre agent can make things happen. Just earlier this year when my spouse was waiting for his study permit extension, and it has exceeded normal timeline for study permit extension, he gave them a call, and they sent an...

I have an immigration lawyer representing me and my partner, working on our file. I asked the same question because he got valid OWP and TRV. The problem lies in the type of spousal PR application. Because our application is for in-land sponsorship (instead of outland), she recommends my...

    Citizenship Applications after Bill C-6

I wrote the test, and got 20/20. I was glad to see the actual test was much, much easier than the practice tests. The online practice tests are heavily focused on the historical dates, figures, and minute facts while the actual test quizzes you on a lot of basic knowledge. My studying advice is...
