Married in Mexico - Divorce Underway in Canada

My soon-to-be ex-wife is a Canadian citizen now. She has been here for five years. We never lived in Mexico at all during our marriage. She did live in Mexico only when she was waiting for her P.R. Canada would have jurisdiction over the marriage because of the time we've both been here, and...

Married in Mexico - Divorce Underway in Canada

I am a Canadian citizen. I married my soon-to-be ex-wife in Mexico in 2012. I filed for divorce in September. I was told recently that the Canadian divorce won't be recognized in Mexico, and I would have to go to my soon-to-be ex-wife's state in Mexico and file for divorce there, as well...

Applying For Wife's Passport - Question Regarding Section 5 of Application

Here's something interesting that I discovered when my wife and I applied for her passport yesterday. We brought in her original certificate of Canadian citizenship to the Service Canada office thinking they would send it away, but they simply looked at it, photocopied it and verified it before...

Can I apply as a single applicant?

No. You are married, so you need to indicate that. Jim

    For citizen passport application

Yes. It isn't possible. After taking the oath, you have to wait two business days to apply for your passport.

    Test question confused

They are working on an updated version as I write this. From what I remember, the only things that are now incorrect in the current book is the number of electoral districts (308 in the book, now 338) and the lyric change of O Canada from "True patriot love in all thy sons command" to "in all...

    Test question confused

I don't care what the book says. I've read it, and so has my wife. She is now a citizen after all. I have already told you it is NOT updated for 2019. It was printed in 2012. No sample test online is updated for 2019, either. Any test that claims it is is just after your money. The...

    Test question confused

It's not updated for 2019, despite what it says. The answer is 338.

Applying For Wife's Passport - Question Regarding Section 5 of Application

Thank you, badar14. So, basically, when she applies for her passport in-person, they'll scan her driver's licence and she just needs a guarantor to sign one of her photos and we'll include her original citizenship certificate. That cuts down on a lot of work. Jim

Test and Ceremony Monday - Final Review of Documents

I assume they would, but in my wife's case, it was easy since she had never left Canada after becoming a permanent resident. Jim

Applying For Wife's Passport - Question Regarding Section 5 of Application

Now that my wife is a Canadian citizen, we will apply for her passport on Friday. Section 5 (Documents to Support Identity) of the passport application states that "If you are applying in person, your original documents will be validated and returned to you." I assume this means at a Service...

Test and Ceremony Monday - Final Review of Documents

Here's an update. My wife and I got back from Calgary. She is now a Canadian citizen. :) They asked to see her PR card, driver's licence and passport. That was it. Thank you to everyone for your help. :) It was a long journey, but it was definitely worth the wait.

Right, but she was also told in the "One Pass Notice" email that she is invited to take the oath later that same day provided she passes her test. Jim

Test and Ceremony Monday - Final Review of Documents

Doesn't IRCC verify your history as a taxpayer in Canada? I seem to remember a portion on the application form where you must indicate you have a SIN and then IRCC verifies your eligibility with CRA. I guess I'm wondering why T4s were provided knowing that IRCC verifies with CRA. Jim
