congrats for getting step 1 letter. In ur letter they have mentioned the time to submit the documents (passport copies etc.) e.g. 30 or 45 days, u should expect step 2 letter at least 10 days after those 30 or 45 days expiry. This is my personal experience and may vary from case to case.

Dear lhr_montreal By the grace of ALMIGHTY ALLAH, I received step 2 letter (PPR) from CHC London yesterday by email also submitted passports to CHC Islamabad for visa issuance as instructed. May all of u get step 1 or 2 letters soon.

There is no harm to make DD from Canada but there is no difference whether the DD is issued from Pakistan or Canada except the time involved. RPRF is only payable by principal applicant and his/her spouse.
