Thread For applications Through SYDNEY (AUSTRALIA) Office

You might WANT to be high-tailing it out of there if the last three Ashes series are anything to go by! ;) Sorry, as a long-suffering kiwi cricket supporter, I couldn't resist..... ;D

    November 2012 Applicants Unite!

I received my COPR today! ;D :D ;D I was getting so frustrated with the lack of communication from the Sydney Visa office, and then this morning it arrived at my work address! I'm not sure why they sent it there rather than my home address, but I'm just happy I have it in hand! Hang in...

Thread For applications Through SYDNEY (AUSTRALIA) Office

So, 340 days after my application was received by CIC, I have finally received my COPR! ;D Just in case anyone else has been waiting forever, you'll get there eventually! I have no idea why my case took so long... ours is a straightforward case with no potential red flags. I guess it just...

I tuned my junk/spam filtering off when we started the process to make sure EVERYTHING came through safely.... still nothing! Very sensible suggestion though, thanks!! ;D

Has anyone had any success calling the Sydney office? If so, what number did you use (from Canada)? My case has said "Decision made" for well over 2 months now, with no contact from them via email, mail or phone. I've emailed twice and sent case specific enquiries and had absolutely no reply...

Thread For applications Through SYDNEY (AUSTRALIA) Office

Maybe our cases have been put on a shelf somewhere and forgotten - again! It doesn't help that my husband has lost our mailbox key, so I can't even check the mailbox to see if they've sent something snail mail. Maybe next week.... ;D

Can anyone enlighten me - does the passport request usually come before or after ECas changes to "Decision Made"? Ecas has said decision made for almost two weeks but I haven't received a passport request as yet. Not a biggie... just wondering!

Thread For applications Through SYDNEY (AUSTRALIA) Office

Yes that's the form I filed. I just asked for an extension of my current status though, not an open work permit. I don't know that writing anything would be necessary, as there's such a backlog that they're not even opening applications for 2 months after receipt. As long as it's not opened...

I'd definitely send in an extension application. It has to be received by the day your current one expires, so send it a few days out to allow for slow Canada Post service. It's taking 3 months for them to even open those applications so you would have implied status until you leave for sure...

You're right, you lose implied status if you leave the country. You can re-enter as a visitor after that but won't be able to work. When are you traveling? It's hard to say how much longer after cases go in process.... it depends how long they look at the case before they make a decision. For...

Thread For applications Through SYDNEY (AUSTRALIA) Office

Hi Pg05, My application was received November 22, and my case went in process last week. I am in a similar situation in that my work permit has expired and my PR hasn't been approved yet. I had a work permit sponsored by my employer, but was told that it was unlikely that my LMO would be...

That seems to be the way Sydney does things. Ecas changes to "in process" then the passport request comes a few weeks later. It's interesting that the VOs all seem to have their own different processes.

    November 2012 Applicants Unite!

Awesome news BrazilianGirl! I had some progress finally too - we went "in process" on June 19. After checking ecas every day (sometimes more than once) it was a very exciting moment to see something change! It's just nice to know that the case has actually been opened now, instead of sitting on...

Some positive movement from Sydney on my case - a change to "in process" on the 19th. nzandcanada and mrlahori, hopefully that means they're working on yours too. :D

Yes, I've run into that quirk with my NZ license already as I've been here in BC on a work permit for three years now. I dutifully exchanged my NZ license for a BC one, but of course the license expiry date was linked with my work permit expiry date - which unfortunately was the beginning of...

may have to leave the contry.

Yes, this is a valid option. Implied status applies for extension applications even if they are ultimately denied. (I did this on the advice of an immigration attorney with no problems to bridge between a Working Holiday permit and a employer sponsored permit). If you are changing status, such...
