New PR. No Canadian exp. What to do?

I hear you on the cost of living but truthfully, agencies are of no help for her. They are not even of help to me, a native Canadian with Canadian experience. Online, agencies boast of all sorts of jobs and then you apply and then you hear nothing. Then you do a follow up and hear nothing again...

New PR. No Canadian exp. What to do?

My wife was accepted PR and arrived in Canada last month. We are in Ottawa and even though she has a mountain of business and trade experience, it is not recognized. We are also situated in Ottawa at the moment and the economy is not so great, and most of the good jobs require bilingualism. We...

Magic Canada sticker affixed to my wife's passport. What now?

My wife received her immigrant sticker on her passport. We will be leaving for Canada soon. What do we do, how do we do it and in what order do we: get wife official PR, SIN card, health card, tell the customs guy at the airport, and "flagpole" (whatever that is)? I understand that some of...

February 2013 OUTLAND (only) applications!! Here is your thread!!

We have to be in Canada by the 24th of January at the latest. My wife's medical will not have expired by then. I must say, I was a little surprised that all we got was a visa sticker with immigrant written on it. It's kind of unnerving as the sticker itself looks very easy to forge.

    Foreign Service - Strike?

I wonder how much non-PAFSO, locally hired foreign staff get paid at foreign VOs? Probably not much. Probably work harder, too.

Marriage fraud - Applied Oct 23

I think a big problem is that so many Canadians won't actually spend a significant amount of time in their spouse's home country to get to know him/her. I think a lack of willingness on the sponsor's part to learn about the spouse's culture is a little insulting. It reeks of arrogance and a...

February 2013 OUTLAND (only) applications!! Here is your thread!!

Tom, My wife received the stamped passport yesterday and we plan to land December 5th so feel free to update. It's unbelievable the stress and the wait time for what is basically a Canada sticker on her passport! In retrospect, 8.5 months is not a long wait compared to most countries and it gave...

do I count as a resident of Canada or China?

Truthfully, I had "huo ji" last Christmas in Beijing, but it just wasn't the same!

do I count as a resident of Canada or China?

I just finished the same process from Beijing. You clearly note you are residing in China. Use your parents Cdn address. That is no problem. Fill out the long paperwork. Include 10 or so natural looking photos, write a brief relationship testimonial and include a paragraph briefly outlining you...

February 2013 OUTLAND (only) applications!! Here is your thread!!

WOOT! WOOT! WOOT! My wife got a call from VO this morning: PR is ready and will be sent out to her later this weeeeeek!! :P If thats not enough, it is set to arrive about 2 weeks early according to the 9 month wait at Beijing. We were even subjected to extra scrutiny as well (VO asked us for...

    Foreign Service - Strike?

They got paid well even before the strike, but good on PAFSO for not allowing the cons to break the union. The question remains: How long will it take the officers to return to their posts? ??? Surely, many of them went back to Canada for the duration of the strike.

    Foreign Service - Strike?

Out of curiosity: do those PAFSO officers working in "choice" destinations (like Switzerland or France) get paid as much as those working in more dangerous and/or war torn destinations??? Are these appointments determined by seniority or familiarity with each country's given language/culture...

So....when and how do i get AOR?

Whoa, 11 months for AOR first stage? :o In our case, we NEVER received a message, by snail or electronically. We only found out my approval to sponsor by calling Ottawa and an immigration clerk giving us this information after searching her database. Shortly after, we were informed that it was...

February 2013 OUTLAND (only) applications!! Here is your thread!!

Not saying its a race but be glad you aren't being processed at the Beijing VO. My wife's passpost has been sitting around (fondled?) the Beijing VO for 7 months and counting. :o

    fake experience letter

If you have no respect for Canadian law by commiting FRAUD BEFORE you immigrate, only a fool would think the cheating would stop once he/she has entered Canada. Yes, it is people like these that increase the wait for thousands of honest and legitimate immigrants.

    fake experience letter

Furthermore, I can and will judge. However, mine was not even a judgement but a mere acknowledgement of fact. Faking experience should not just be "frowned upon" as you put it, it is FRAUD and it should be dealt with a blacklisting on his immigration case file. We already have enough cheaters...

    fake experience letter

If he's willing to fake experience just so he can land in Canada to work in fast food, he MUST be very desperate to leave his home country. Just stating a fact. There is nothing nasty or inappropriate about stating a fact. He is not coming to Canada because it's always been his dream to see...

Best way for the immigration process?

I think you are in a smooth groove of a scenerio, groovebuster. Even if your PR isn't approved after one year you are visa exempt and probably can relocate or at least have a nice, long visit while the procedure takes place.

    fake experience letter

Remind me not to spend my money at said food courts. It would be nice if some of these cheapskate fast food companies could save some of those minimum wage starter jobs for young Canadians like they did for 50 some odd years.
