I have applied for PR in Germany and my current status is 'in process'. I am going to Canada for six months as a visitor. Can I send my passports by mail to German embassy for permanent visa or will I have to go back to Germany for getting visa ?

hi 7411, your status doesnot change after 6 months ...is frustrating as your friend status changed after 4 months. I think you must send an enquiry to visa office about your status. what is your categary and when have you applied ?
