see it is question of visa approval..which i think you should not take chance of going with toefl. It is better for you to take ielts as soon as possible.. I do not know nyone who applied visa to canada throu toefl I know ielts is not mandatory Now its upto you to decide...

for MINT in Alberta university i think ielts is not required but your ielts writing score may create a glitch in visa.. but u may give it a try or reappear for ielts.

for visa purpose ielts is recommended. The way toefl is recommended for US Visa ...you need to give ielts for Canada visa..

@ Amit I am going for Master's in Internetworking in Dalhousie University you will not find programs directly with electronics communications as master's programs one needs to check the syllabus and decide for master's however,there are some programs i know are directly related to electronics...
