    Spousal Open Work Permit

As long as your W/permit is valid then you can apply for and have very good chance of getting an open work permit for your spouse (easier still if is by marriage and not comon-law). Since you are on a work permit then the proof-of-funds is not required. You just need to submit a copy of your...

I would advise that you go the other way around. Take 25-40% of your funds in cash and keep the rest in the bank until u have ur bearings in the new country. Canada is a great country but there are still bad apples there. It would hurt like a bitch if u are robbed on ur first day there of...

LMO salary rate higher than the rate indicated in Contract

I would bring that up with the prospective employer. I dont think it to be a deal breaker but it would definitely give you a heads up regarding the kind of people you will be working for.

Since the OP's question is already answered, please allow me to piggy-back on his topic. Applying for extension of Spousal Open work permit extension when wife has left

If I were in your shoes I would get her back in Canada before applying for the extension. It seems that you are less likely to be refused anything (within reason) once you are in the country. And an extension of stay or change of condition can be applied for online.

Need help regarding Canadian educational credential evaluation

You can also use the World Education Services (WES) to evaluate your degrees. They are accepted by Canada. Just visit their website and they will tell you how it works. My wife has used them in the past. They're great.

How accurate is this calculator? Could someone who already has a job plug in their actual figures and tell me how it lines up? I just tried it with some arbitrary figure and it is saying that 42.5% of gross salary istax in Alberta while 52% of gross salary is taken in tax in Ontario. I am...

How to apply for open work permit - outside of Canada

The open work permit takes the same processing as the visitors visa. Do you and your spouse have a common-law union or are you married? That will make a difference in the application method.

Its funny you should say that Amikety because I lived in London for a little and it is much cheaper than what I am seeing in Alberta (be it Calgary or Edmonton). As for the weather, I am from the Caribbean so Canada's weather is gonna be hell for me initially (again) no matter where I end up...
