you cannot use your contribution room from 2009 , when they audit they give you a fine on your overcontributions , the TfSA limit starts from the year you got your SIN number , hope that helps

I didnt have a sin number in december 2012 , I got it in 2013 , does that make me not applicable for 2012 ? I checked from cra account as well , it shows from 2009

they tell me I can contribute from 2009 :D

I think option number 2 is good unless your sin is expiring soon You can always apply for the new sin and find a new job, you can tell the employer you have PR , it only takes a day to get the new sin from service Canada, but you need your PR card

I arrived in December 2012 on a student visa and got my sin number in Oct 2013, am I still Eligible for contribution for the year 2012 for TFSA? I got the post-work permit in 2015, got my PR in 2017 and created a TFSA account in 2018 Thanks
