Just so share some awesome news with you - my husband got his visa on November 22nd, and he landed in Canada just 2 days ago, December 2nd ! ;D Immigration officer only asked him to confirm the address where they will send his PR card, and he had to sign on few spots, and off he went...

I think you will be able to. My friend did the same thing wih her husband in March this year, and she was with him all the time when they landed, at the Immigration Office at the airport, etc...

Here is a link where you can see all the countries that do need visa and the ones that are exempt (the link is just below the title, so it takes you to the bottom of the page): http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/visit/visas.asp#exemptions

Thank you, Nole73! All this time apart is tough, so I cannot wait for him to come here already!

    August 2012 Applicants Thread =)

Thank you :) I think they just put up the number of months to process to protect themselves - if they say 5 months for example, and they don't get to it or there is missing information, they would have to deal with many more e-mails and calls from people contacting them. So, i think they just...

    August 2012 Applicants Thread =)

Hi all ! We got awesome news this morning from Vienna - they asked for my husband's passport to issue him a visa!!! ;D They said he can send it by registered mail, which would take several weeks (for them to get it, issue visa, send it back), or he can come in person on Tuesdays & Thursdays...

    And thank you all :)

    VIENNA OFFICE

You should try calling them instead. In the AOR from Vienna they say if there is no news from them 3 months after the date of the e-mail, you are required to contact them. So, it can't hurt if you call them as well, because you don't know how long it will take them to reply to the e-mail...

    VIENNA OFFICE

Good morning all! This was a great morning for us - we received an e-mail requesting my husband's passport !!!!!!!! ;D They said that he can send it via registered mail, or go in person on Tuesday and Thursday mornings and they say most likely they will issue him a visa by the afternoon - so...

    VIENNA OFFICE

They replied to me after 5 days... but i don't think there is a specific timeline for their replies to just an e-mail.

    VIENNA OFFICE

I would use DHL. I used them to send papers from Canada to Serbia, and they were delivered in 3 days (including weekend). DHL is pretty reliable. If they had asked only for passport, i would go in person to get the visa. On Thursdays, if you drop it off in the morning, they would have the visa...

    VIENNA OFFICE

Hey Nole73, I would think so. Same thing happened to my friend 5-6 years ago - they provided court certificate, and had to resend the one from the police. And soon after Vienna got it, her husband received visa. That certificate must be from the Police Station, not court, as they say. My...

    VIENNA OFFICE

Certificate from Police only means that person was not convicted of any crime. It has nothing to do with Military. That's why you need separate proof from Military Office or whatever office, about not serving in any armed forces. I don't know how else to explain, but I'm just saying that you...

    VIENNA OFFICE

I know, but they still obviously need/want some proof. Go to the Police Station! If they can't do it, they can tell you where to go. That would be a start at least.

    VIENNA OFFICE

Well, to start i would suggest, that you/your husband go to the office where he can ask about this (perhaps Police Station at first, and they can direct you to another office if that's the case), in whatever city he is, and discuss that with them and explain, and they might be able to help him...

louie_ann, AOR from VO is from November 2nd actually - that's when the original e-mail was sent, but to the wrong address!!! So i got that e-mail as a forward to my correct e-mail address... It doesn't look like Canada and Vienna "communicate" when agents in Canada make a mistake on their end...

    VIENNA OFFICE

Thanks you all :) AOR e-mail was actually a forwarded AOR e-mail from the original they sent on November 2nd, but to the wrong e-mail address. So when the agent at the Call Center fixed it here in Canada, Vienna does not have access to that correction... I hope they fixed it now - it's scary...
