I never thought about it but what would you do if it was refused?

If she is on Orkut, there are many forums about immigration to Canada, including for those women married to canadians. Nearly all of us have/had our applications processed in São Paulo. Boa sorte!

Can we get married in the U.S. but live in Canada immediately after?

My husband and I got married in the US (I'm Brazilian though), then he came back to Canada, I went to Brazil, applied for a new visitor visa to Canada and came to Canada a few days after getting the visa. We were together during the whole processing of our outland sponsorship application. Once I...

    SIN card after PR card?

Surrey, BC. Douglas office: http://www.cbsa-asfc.gc.ca/contact/listing/offices/office405-e.html I think it depends. I was told by the CBSA Officer it would take from 6 to 8 weeks for the PR Card to arrive, but I received it 2 days before completing 5 weeks. In CIC's website it says 30 days...

Applying for visitor extension whilst applying outland?

You can apply for extension. I asked my stay to be extended until December 8th, 2009, and they gave me until August 13th, 2010. When I applied for extension, I didn't prove that I would leave the country. I only said I would like to stay in Canada with my husband during the processing of my...

You're welcome, MVK. Was he illegal for a while? If yes, I don't know and probably would wait for the sponsorship to be finalized. If not, I would definitely try to apply. I was very discouraged by a few (four) "despachantes" to apply for a visa since I wouldn't be able to prove any ties in...

if i'm already living in canada, um, err, do i still have to "land"?

True. I considered that option when I was waiting for my passport to come back from the Visa Office, but in Vancouver I would have to wait for about a month for a landing at the CIC office. It was much easier for me to go to the border and land there. But not everybody live near a border.

Hi Jaune, I agree with IntLove that you should take the vaccine. People living in or visiting states like Pará are recommended to get a Yellow Fever vaccine. It should be taken at least 10 days before your trip - once you have been immunized, it is good for 10 years. Take your immunization...

Same here, we didn't send anything translated - everything was either in English or Portuguese. However, by the time we mailed the application (mid-February 2009) the instruction in the Appendix A was: "If your documents are not in English or French, send a notarized (certified) translation with...

Hi MVK, Your husband can apply for a visitor visa in São Paulo and, if approved, wait in Canada for his sponsorship to be finalized. That's basically what I did, but I came to Canada before my husband applied for sponsorship - they knew he was about to apply though. 30 days before my status...
