Ontario Driver's License Exchange with a NJ Driver's License

Hey Parker, Yeah we asked for the letter. They gave us al etter that said because they destroy all documents after 3 years, they can't confirm the original date of license. haha I'm not kidding. any ways, I solved it for my husband. Told him to bring the same document to another Service...

Ontario Driver's License Exchange with a NJ Driver's License

Hey KK, So here we are weeks later, still the same issue. Trenton sent us back a simliar document which we got in the mail today but they said that they do not issue driver's abstracts with the original date of licensing on them because they now destroy all records after 3 years. Maybe this...

Ontario Driver's License Exchange with a NJ Driver's License

All, Wondering if any of you have had a similiar experience. My husband ordered his "Driver's Abstract" from the New Jersey DMV before he landed in Canada last month. When he went to Service Ontario to exchange his driver's license for an Ontario driver's license, they told him the driver's...

Leslieville is a great neighbourhood. I'm in the Distillery which is growing fast! Glad to be adding another Gb'er to our downtown core :-)

You will! We were a bit unfortunate. I have seen a lot of people now at the PPR/COPR stage that sent in their applications 4 or 5 months AFTER us. About 2.5 months after we handed in our application, we got the WHOLE thing back with a piece of paper that said "You missed a signature on Page X"...

Thread for Outland LONDON, UK Applications!

haha I've heard from my friends in Northern England it's because there are a bunch of trades jobs out West that they want. Supposedly not the best climate for trades in the UK right now. Know a few people who've now gone out to Alberta and BC for jobs from Manchester/Salford/Rochdale/etc...

You may still get the PPR even if they said the application has already been approved. If not, just hold on for the COPR. You should get it soon. I started to worry too but it's all for nothing. It just ended up taking 4 weeks to get to my husband in New Jersey. I'm not sure emailing them...

    How much is too much?

I have to agree. You can take 1000 pictures in a sham situation. But it's much harder to disprove a relationship when you have joint assets. As everyone said, it depends on your situation. My husband and I have been together for 9 years and married for 6. We lived together for 6 years out of...

The positive outlook is nice to hear! I hope it works out for you guys and you end up enjoying Canada. Just keep in mind that there will be some adjustments and I know, for me, I didn't know how much I loved this place until I started missing everything about it. It took about 6 months for it...

Yes I have in the past although it took them longer then if it had been beyond the normal processing times. I just emailed them last week because it seemed like it was taking forever to get COPR. 10 days later, I haven't heard back, but we already got the COPR so it doesn't matter.

    is having a lawyer necessery?

Lawyers are usually not necessary unless you have a case where there is something that could change the course of an application or make it harder for someone to gain PR. Depending on what you were given the exclusion order for, it may be a good idea to get one that can deal with any issues...

It did not say Valid Date on my husband's COPR. It just said that there was a day the medicals and security clearance expired which is a year from now according to the papers he received. Maybe he didn't check it over clearly enough but he's pretty thorough.

It's funny that you ask that. I asked my husband what the COPR letter said yesterday and if there was a date on it that he had to enter by. He said there was no sentence in the letter that state "you must enter by X date or COPR is invalid". There were just a few dates about his medical and...

That's some good information computergeek. Very interesting to boot. It was crazy to me that in New Jersey, people would move purposely to put their kid in a decent school district. Some of the towns in N, NE and NW Jersey that have great schools are charging people $15,000 - $20,000 in...

It absolutely should be based upon what works best for the two of you, but that doesn't make it easy. We both have great families and I missed mine terribly when I was living in the US. But it wasn't missing my family that made me change my mind and ask my husband to come with me. The US and...

haha yeah it's pretty great. I'm 30 and thinking about having a baby soon. The 12 months of mat leave also helps the situation be less stressful. In NJ I would have only qualified for a max 12 weeks and having one income in a place like NJ just doesn't work. It's far too expensive. In the...

I immigrated to the US to be with my husband back in 2006. My husband is from Jersey. (ie. the armpit of America) There are a lot of cool things and great things about New Jersey, however, I found it to be the most stressful time of my life. The traffic, the social environment (race and...
