I did both. In my opinion, CELPIP is the best for preparation. It is much easier than IELTS.

I also did medical exam in 31th March. In waterloo, Ontario, they just took $400 for family(4), $40 for X-ray(per person) and less than $10 for urine test(per person)

If they had assessment our files, it just needs 2-3months more. otherwise, it would be take little bit more. but as you know medical exam is valid for a year. so they will finalize it within a year. Good luck
