well my understanding is it depends when your file was transferred. I applied about a year ago and got my RQ so i dont think your are 100% safe.. i think everyone's application after May 2012 will follow this new procedures. But again - you never know

I had the same situation and i wrote my maiden name. later on, they sent me a letter asking which last name i would like to use. But you can always call them and ask what would be the best way to approach this situation :D

You won't lose your citizenship, however, you probably won't be deemed resident for canadian taxes and might have to file taxes with another country.
