Visitor / supervisa and name change

My wife and I would like to apply for a visitor or supervisa for her mother to come visit us. We're just starting the process, and have run into an issue: When my wife was born (Philippines) her mother is listed on the birth certificate as [Nickname] [Maternal LN] [Married LN]. She has been...

Nexus Card updating after becoming a citizen - new card?

Hey there, sorry for the late reply  The process wasn't bad at all, except I had to drive from Windsor to Ottawa. Appointments in Toronto were quite a bit further in the future. The paperwork is simple, and the actual interview and oath experience was pretty quick. So far I've crossed...

    Passport after Citizenship Test

You cannot apply for a passport until after you take the oath, not the test.

Nexus Card updating after becoming a citizen - new card?

No, no, NO. Do NOT put "lost or stolen", put "damaged". I was emphatically told this by a CBP agent at the Detroit enrollment centre just a few weeks ago. Putting lost or stolen will cause you a world of headaches. I updated my citizenship info immediately after my oath in March, but could not...

Moving from US To Canada - Movers

I believe it was a 26-foot truck. As far as cost, I have no idea. I think I paid around $400-$500 back then, with a tow dolly as well. Best bet is to give them a call. Good luck!

Anyone who holds Dual US-Canadian Citizenship?

Same here, alphazip. My renunciation appointment is August 30, and I am casting my lot solely with Canada.

How long does it take to update Nexus after I receive Canadian citizenship?

No, I'm US/Canada dual, and when I updated my info, the very gruff CBP officer at the Ambassador Bridge just took my NEXUS card and Canadian passport, clicked around on his computer for a few minutes then handed them back to me. I crossed a few days ago back into Canada using my NEXUS card in a...

How long does it take to update Nexus after I receive Canadian citizenship?

My wife and I took our oath on 21 March, and had our passports shortly afterward. We made our first trip together to the US during Memorial Day weekend, and we brought her I-94 with us to turn in on our way back into Canada. I handed it to the CBSA agent at the Blue Water Bridge, and told her...

    Windsor applicants????

Walk in is the only option. When I went it took me about an hour and a half start to finish. You get a number assigned when you check in, then you have a seat and wait. Overall it wasn’t bad. Time just depends. My wife went later that same day and was done in about 20 minutes.

    Windsor applicants????

Wait two business days then you should be OK to apply for a passport. Our oath was on a Wednesday, I was at the passport office Friday. They scan your citizenship certificate bar code to make sure you are in the system My passport application went in Friday morning, and I picked it up the...

    Windsor applicants????

Hi Sparkling, Thank you. We brought our COPRs, PR Cards, invitation letter and media release form. No other items were requested, and we didn't bring them in with us. (our passports, etc. we left in the car just in case, but it was unnecessary). They call you in by numerical order (the number...

Can we apply for passport next day after Oath?

Check ECAS before you go to the passport office. If your status has changed to "Complete" you should be OK to apply. My oath was on a Wednesday at 2 PM. Thursday night it still said "In Process", Friday morning changed to "Complete", so I headed down and had no problems.

    Windsor applicants????

Congrats! My oath email came exactly one week after the test, and ECAS never updated with the oath invitation. I checked my ECAS after our oath ceremony and it states "Complete", and jumps from the test invitation directly to "you became a Canadian Citizen on March 21". Maybe if you're lucky...
