"Staying" with my fiance in Canada on visitor status: ADVICE needed!!

Ok..here is the list. It is rather long..so be prepared for some reading. :-) It was in response to a person who was sponsoring her spouse and had questions about crossing the border. Their situation was a little different than yours in that they were married. When do you and your fiance plan to...

Complicated question re spousal sponsorship and csq

Hi, I thought I'd respond to your post. I might be able to give you a little advice...at least I'll try. I've just landed as a permanent resident and we live in Quebec...Montreal, actually..( by the way..i share your love for the city. ;) My husband is Canadian, I'm American. I would...

Landing waaaaay sooner than we anticipated! :-)

Thanks..haha...i did have to leave the forum for a little while. I found it more upsetting than helpful at times, especially after someone started name calling. That was hurtful in the middle of that whole difficult waiting period. Preparing for an unwanted separation from each other was heart...

"Staying" with my fiance in Canada on visitor status: ADVICE needed!!

ahhhh...! Whatever you do, DO NOT use the words "moving in" when referring to your visits with your husband. You HAVE to let them know at the border that you know that you are a visitor...and that you can't work or go to school while you are here. I just went through this process so I learned...

Passport Request for Visa Exempted Country

Are you sure they are asking for the actual passport and not just a copy? In any case, I would definitely call them and ask. I suppose someone COULD have made an error and asked for the actual passport. Like the other poster suggested, though, if you don't get an answer, I would do what they say...

    cancel the sponsoship agreement

You can't lump everyone into one category. To do so is pure ignorance. Just sayin'.

Advice please- Canadian/ American cohabitating without marriage?

vent away. Dealing with this immigration stuff is hard. I do agree with those that are saying u will likely get snagged.( even tho you aren't intending to do anything wrong),.then worse, tagged..which means they might tag u so every time you try to enter Canada, they might pull you in for...

Wife Sponsor / QUEBEC or ONTARIO

As another person ssid, if you decide to apply through Quebec, make sure you do the CSQ early on. We didn't realize it was so important and thought it was an entirely separate issue. We would have been done in Sept, ( roughly) but since we didn't allpy for the CSQ until CIC was requesting it...

I am just not sure where to look for answers please help

wow...your situation is heartwrenching!! I'm so sorry! Can you try to get a new atty that can help you sort thing out? Can you change your application to an inland, spousal sponsorship IN CANADA? Can you appeal to the Canadian gov.to allow you to bring in your wife ..maybe as a refugee status...

Deported from Canada - move to US?

Your story is really sad. Maybe you can tell your member of parliament about your case and appeal to him or her to help you in any way they can. I'm sorry to hear of such suffering. :-(

Landing waaaaay sooner than we anticipated! :-)

In the past few weeks, we had received news that we shouldn't expect to hear anything about our application until mid July. That would have put my case at around 18 months. We were pretty devastated and I was making plans to go back to the States to wait it out some more separated from my...

Signing off. Good luck to everyone.

I`ve found this forum to be not so pleasant after all. A lot of people seem to come in here just so they can read posts and then respond with negative absolutes, or name calling in order to upset the OP. I have seen and experienced, however, a few really compassionate people who have tried to...

    Useless MP

Before I sign off of this forum, I had to respond to your post. I really can feel your pain, especially in the second to last paragraph. You are not alone. Although, I know it doesn`t help matters..(what would besides the landing papers in your hand, right?) What you described is exactly how my...

Re: SOOO Confused! Can ANYONE shed any light? My attorney IS worthless. And I don`t think you do understand my frustration or you`d understand why the multiple threads asking the same question. By the way, I wasn`t aware there was a rule about how many times a person can post about a certain...

Signing off. Good luck to everyone.

okay..about back ground checks: I sent off my FBI back ground check ( along with everything else - except the CSQ -for Quebec ) at the beginning of this process. ( Back in January of 2013) I had gotten fingerprinted and everything, you know..like all of us. It had come back fine. I have no...

How many background checks are normal?

I hope not. That would be a royal pain in the you know what. So you think our ( well, actually my husband's. since I'm only a visitor ) Member of Parliament was lying to me or the Immigration office was lying to him when they that was normal and done that way for everyone? Besides that, if...
