Please help - Citizenship not granted

It also depends on the case officer; in a good/bad mood, not aware of free movement of EU citizens e.g. in my wife's case. So I would suggest you to be prepared for the worst. Bring along your tickets, boarding passes, health records etc.

Please help - Citizenship not granted

Thanks for the tips. Unfortunately my wife's credit record won't count as the case officer said because we had a joint account until recently. However, we are pulling together dental and other appointments.

Please help - Citizenship not granted

Thank you for your elaborate reply; much appreciated. Basically my wife was asked why she did not have a visa when she studied there. The answer is EU citizens don't need visa to study in UK. Secondly, he asked where the entry stamps when she visited UK. The answer is EU passports are not...

Thank you for your tips; appreciated. We may have electronic tickets so we will have to dig them out. Meanwhile we have just learned that we can get her medical history from Ontario's health ministry.

Please help - Citizenship not granted

Hello, Today my wife had her citizenship test which she passed with full marks - 20/20. However, during the interview they refused to grant citizenship saying that since she is an EU citizen they cannot track her departure history but arrival history can. So they asked her to provide other...

    July 2017 Citizenship applicants

Hahaha I thought you might disappear from this forum after citizenship.. Again good intentions to stay on as hero member... Exactly it takes 2 hours. Before/after ceremony people take pictures in front of the provincial flags. Make sure to take a camera and a friend along.

Wow! Congratulations! Welcome to the new citizens club :) Though you did not go through the urgent route, your timeline is almost same as mine. So urgent processing is no worth. I have seen you have been one of the most valued members of this forum providing tons of advice/guidace to others in...

Thank you. Yes you are right they take away your PR card but not COPR. They told us to apply for passport after two days (48) hours as you wont be in the system until then. In the letter they say we should bring all original docs plus passports but they only ask for PR card at the ceremony. Good...

    July 2017 Citizenship applicants

Hello all, Today I had my citizenship oath ceremony, which went well. The event was lively and the room was packed with new citizens and guests. What a great coincident - the ceremony was held at the same building where I work! So lucky, so convenient! Perhaps they chose the venue especially for...

Thank you :) Certainly, it took more than a month for status change to decision made - but afterwards the process was pretty fast. I have a hunch you and the others with decision made will soon get oath invitation letters. Fingers crossed!

I did not have to ask as the officer himself told me that from 4-6 weeks I should get an invite for the oath; however, it took more than a month just for status change to DM. If the officer doesn't tell you, you should definitely ask.

I found the answer, here you go: Regarding Background Checks: Clearances Overall, generally, most applicants are not likely to encounter any more than minimal delays due to background clearances. Some will, most will not. There are three formal clearances (background checks) required for...

Interesting to know the difference. Seems like background checks take longer than security checks. E.g. for security checks, they can easily get a report from police. For background checks, they have to check all your addresses, places, countries here you lived, exit and entry stamps etc; an...

    July 2017 Citizenship applicants

From my personal experience, as well as from reading through this forum posts, there is no standard approach for security checks. For instance, when I called them after the test that several weeks passed and yet my status is In Process - why? The answer was they are doing background checks...

    July 2017 Citizenship applicants

Totally agree. Despite the fact that my application went through urgent processing, honestly it is not really urgent as you see on the sheet there are quite a few regular applicants having the test more or less at the same timeline - just a few weeks difference. Also Decision Made does not...
