Americana and Canadian Girl, I'm glad you're talking about adjusting to life in Canada. You send so much time with your eye on the prize (the PR), but you don't realize its not a walk in the park after that. It's a huge adjustment. One or both of you is starting a brand new life, and leaving...

I don't fully understand the military procedures in Mexico, but I know there have been others on this post that hadn't registered prior. My husband had signed up but has never served and it wasn't an issue. Like I said, I don't fully understand but it's not a big a deal as it seems.

Your First Winter - Just for Laughs!!

I'm in Northen Alberta and winter has come very early this year. It's -28 right now. Just after my husband came.. he was coming home after working nights and the windows on the car were all frosted up, and he didn't know what to do. There was no snow scraper as I wasn't expecting the cold...

I'm pretty sure nothing helps speed up the process. And if you're family class it's not really applicable. Are you just waiting for your PPR now?

Wow! I thought part of being financially responsible for the applicant was to be responsible if they applied for welfare etc.. I didn't think you would get deported. That must be an odd case!?

As far as I know, they just asked the standard customs questions, and then verified the address etc. I would just make sure you know your wife's address and phone number. It was a lot easier than I thought it would be. I hope you hear something this week!

Yeah it's tricky, especially with a new job to ask for time off to go do paperwork so you can leave and go to Canada :) The PGR may be able to be done in his state though. My husband got his locally.
