Can I apply for a work/study permit while I am applying for Sponsorship?

Hey guys, I've asked this before, but never got a definite answer. I am an American on a 2 year visitor record. My husband and I are in the process of submitting our application in. Is there a way I can apply for a work or study visa? Don't get me wrong, I love being with my husband, but being a...

Can I apply for an open work permit or study permit?

Hey all, I was wondering if I could apply for an open work permit / study permit? I am in Canada in the process of submitting my spousal application and I have a visitor's record for 2 years. Studying during a Visitor's Record?

I was issued a 2 years visitors record and was wondering if I could study at a 6 or under months course. I know it states on my Visitors record that I can not study, but then on CIC website it says that visitors can study if the course is 6 months or less. Can I do such a thing? Thanks. :D

Success story - Crossing the border before submitting spousal application

I am very sorry to have heard this. This yet again is a prime example of border crossings and IOs are all different. That is just rediculous. I hope your FBI comes in soon or if you can just send the app without it despite it delaying the app process just by a little. :/

Success story - Crossing the border before submitting spousal application

Hey it's okay, I have been there and it was a bad experience as well. Here was my situation, I got refused once and almost again (both times through customs at the airport). My hubby and I have had a success through the land crossings once so we took our chance. And no we haven't even sent in...

Success story - Crossing the border before submitting spousal application

Well the way that I look at it is, I don't think you two @fig @simb should be worried at all. As long as you guys are telling the truth. However @fig, I don't know how your situation will be, withouth your husband. You can always tell them that he's waiting for you right now and they can speak...

Success story - Crossing the border before submitting spousal application

I don't know how Pearson airport is, but the way I look at airports are they are more strict. This is just my experience. Will you be entering with your husband? I crossed through Carway, not busy at all. I 100% agree! Yup :) will you be crossing soon?

Success story - Crossing the border before submitting spousal application

Here is my story. I wanted to share this with everyone who was in the same situation as me. I am the American, my husband is the Canadian. Enjoy! I flew from California to Montana, where I landed 2 hours from the Alberta border. While I was flying and such, my husband was driving down to...

    Preparing to cross the border

Well our original plan was for me to fly up on the 11th, so in less than 2 weeks from now. Now my husband and I might cancel our flights ... and use our flight credit for me to fly to Kalispell MT, which is a few hours from Carway (One of the border in Alberta, that we have passed through...

    Preparing to cross the border

I believe that there is no right or wrong answer. Some flew some went by vehicle. I guess we all have to trust our guts. But this is soooo worrisome. And @Simb, actually I was denied entry once when I flew and they made me pay for a flight back! For some, the airlines paid for them, but I was...

    Preparing to cross the border

Yes one of the things my husband will present to them is the receipt (of fees paid) and also our almost finished application. With my experience with both I too found the airports to be a lot more strict. However, despite of that thought, my husband and I thought they would understand our...

    Preparing to cross the border

This really freaks me out as well! :( ! I forgot to ask, but is flying a lot more different than crossing the land border? I've been through both. Was denied entry when I flew (so I know how thorough they are) and when we crossed through the land border, it was easy ... I was only asked two...

    Preparing to cross the border

Again thank you. And do you guys think the return flight would suffice. I mean I've gone through CBSA with my hubby (then bf) and it was fine ... Experiences at the airport with me alone was gruesome. I can't think of any other ties since I don't have any :(!

    Preparing to cross the border

Thank you for your very informative answer, I was told that I should buy the round trip ticket, just in case they wanted to know if I'd return. I asked around if I should show ties to my country and I get some answers yes and some answers no. What do you think? And I will definitely be changing...
