Poland is a visa exempt country as well but it just "enlightened" me that they didn't ask my partner's passport either, when he was doing his PR from Poland. I guess if you're actually IN the country they know you can pick up the papers yourself and ask for your passport then. or something like...

Well, seems just like when they finish processing everything, positively of course. :) - If they had any issues, they would email you asking for more details, proves etc. It IS a bit strange they haven't asked you for the (copy of) passport though, have they? Sure there are no emails from them...

My partner was thinking about the same thing the other day and we concluded that it must depend on whether you're actually in Poland or not. As it's impossible to send the actual passport by mail (illegal as far as I know) then for ppl who are still in Poland they ask the passport while you go...
