How soon must I send passport after receiving the request?

I am planning an international travel for which my passport will be needed. However, I might be requested to send my passport during that time (medical done). So does anybody know how soon I must send my passport, after CIC requests it? One month? Or two months? Many thanks.

    MAY 2012 Applications

received my AOR yesterday. Application was received on May 2. seems like 2 weeks' delay with respect to the 3 month promise (could be attributed to the Buffalo -> Ottawa transfer). I am happy with that.

Processing time include first 3 months or not

"... shows the time it takes to process an application after we receive a complete application package. " Now it takes 15 months for CEC. But it takes 3 months to send the acknowledgement, even if the application package was complete. So does this 15 months include the first 3 months or not?

    Original copy versus Certified copy

btw, the word "copy" in English is often confusing because it can stand for both "photocopy" and "original". For example, "please bring me a copy of the book" does not mean please photocopy all pages of the book.

    >> i dont think u need to certify true copy if they are written in english Oh, that's surprising to me! Right, nowhere is it said that photocopies must be certified. In the guide www .cic.gc.ca/english/information/applications/guides/5609ETOC.asp (remove the space after www), the sections...

    Original copy versus Certified copy

For some documents, CIC asks for certified true copy, eg birth certificate. However, an original copy of my birth certificate costs $10, while a certified copy costs $30 from notary public. Question: is it ok if I just submit the original copy? Thanks.

    IELTS test report

    > I just sent the original IELTS score sheet I got from the centre my problem is that a visa I'm applying for another country also requires the original IELTS score sheet. In fact, IELTS provides official web sites for score confirmation. But somehow, governments still require the original copy.

    IELTS test report

CIC requires the original copy of IELTS test report. No photocopy. No way to ask the test center to directly send the score report to CIC. IELTS test center only provides one copy of the report. They don't provide more even if it's lost or stolen and you are willing to pay. But I need this...

    NOC for postdoc

The reason why I avoid using specialty as NOC is that my specialty is also tricky in that sense. For example, it is not uncommon that a postdoc in the Electrical and Computer Engineering never works on computer, hardware, or software. He/she simply works on information theory (things like...

    NOC for postdoc

Thanks a lot, Toddmeng. In fact, 4122 has been completely removed from the NOC list. So no confusion will be caused. Indeed, I just found "postdoctoral fellow" under 4011 University professors and lecturers: www5...

    NOC for postdoc

There used to be an NOC for postdoc: 4122. Now the new NOC list eliminated it. On the new list, Should I use 4012? It requires "enrolled in a university/college program". What does "enroll" mean here? Does employment with a work permit count? Trickily, if we compare the 4012 in the new list...
