I am planning an international travel for which my passport will be needed. However, I might be requested to send my passport during that time (medical done). So does anybody know how soon I must send my passport, after CIC requests it? One month? Or two months? Many thanks.

btw, the word "copy" in English is often confusing because it can stand for both "photocopy" and "original". For example, "please bring me a copy of the book" does not mean please photocopy all pages of the book.

For some documents, CIC asks for certified true copy, eg birth certificate. However, an original copy of my birth certificate costs $10, while a certified copy costs $30 from notary public. Question: is it ok if I just submit the original copy? Thanks.
