Can I import my car to Canada without "sales receipt"?

If you listed your car as goods to follow, coming from the US, I'm not sure that duty and sales tax apply. You'll want to check that out.

    paper size to be used

We just used regular 8 1/2" x 11"-- never occurred to me to use anything else.

Is my US credit worthless in Canada?

From experience I can tell you that Transunion and Equifax(2 of the USA big 3) are also used in Canada. I would not try to attempt to hide anything-- what's to say your American info won't show up when they plug you in to check you out?

    US Citizen/immigrant/alberta nominee program

Folks keep in mind that Canada has access to the same main credit people as the US (Equifax, etc). Could be good or bad depending on what they decide to check. Also-- ajkal have you considered what it's going to cost to maintain that $303K mortgage AND one in Canada? Dude that's a lot of cash...

Canadian PR - Landing by Personal Car

GK-- That's news to me-- we put our car down as "later goods" when we temporarily crossed a year ago. When we went back permanently there was no mention or question about "export." I had never heard of that and my car is happily in Canada and I'm still paying on the US loan.

Do my spouse need to learn frence language for Quebec

Oh yes, Leon, btw I am told (esp when I lived in Britain years ago) that the purest form of English is that spoken in Inverness, Scotland. This from linguists and having lived an hour or so from there for a time I would say it's easily understood and very pleasant to the ear.

What are the occupation and skills you guys apply under?

Need nurses bigtime in PEI-- however for the other occupations-- PE somewhat antiquated-- almost all direct patient care done by RN's and LPN's. Very few "unlicensed" personnel here such as techs, nursing assistants, etc. Very unfortunate as it could really help solve the nursing shortage.

Do my spouse need to learn frence language for Quebec

Leon-- Yes learn French if you want to live in Quebec. However the "insecurity" of the Quebecois in speaking English comes from wanting to be a country when they're not. It's more like arrogance-- refusing to speak English-- and quite frankly it's silly. I'm glad we have a French part of...

    IM CONFUSED!! PLEASE HELP!!

I think a problem you are going to have is that in the very near future you are going to be required to have a passport to cross the border into Canada(already needed to fly in) and I'm guessing as an "illegal alien"(unfortunate term isn't it?) you probably don't have one. I think you may want...

    ADVICE APPRECIATED

Hey Spark did you ever think about living on an island? (UK doesn't count-- that's too big to be called an island.)We need electricians here in PEI, housing costs about as good as they get in Canada, and the only warmer area would be BC. Check out www.gov.pe.ca. Provincial nominee program has...

    Canadian and american/please help

Quite honestly with the amount of time it takes for regular, non provincial nominee status immigration you all might as well think about the marriage aspect of it. Or just start the process and by the time you get anywhere you'll probably be ready to get married anywyay. You should checkout...

    Rumours from Canada...

Yeah it's a good possibility of an election; please god help us get rid of the connservatives but I don't think it'll make much difference in the immigration policies.

Do my spouse need to learn frence language for Quebec

Yeah-- like the bloc has a chance in hell of ever coming to power. That'd be hilarious if it weren't so scary. BTW those many quebecois who "do not speak English" is because they choose not to, not because they can't. And it's not even real French-- just a dialect.

    PNP Immigration

The need of a job offer varies from province to province. PEI for example does not require the secured job as long as you have the skill and educational level they're looking for (but then again there aren't many jobs on the Island anyway.) By the way I am somewhat leery about the advice given...

How quick was our application processed!!!

Congratulations but are you sure you only have a 10 day wait for your visas once medicals(physicals) are sent in? Ottawa does not usually process them any where near that fast-- you may want to check on this.

    inquiry

I believe that will need to be answered at the provincial level. PEI, where we are, for example, does require that. Can't speak for rest of provinces although I can tell you most seem to be a little further up the evolutionary scale in recognising foreign credentials than here on the Island!

    Proof to renew PR card

Does anyone know what sort of form or process is involved in renewing PR card? Not anywhere near there yet as we just landed last March, but one of those things you'd just like to know, eh?

    immigrating as reitree

There really isn't anything under immigration for what you want to do. You need to be going in one of the employment categories. Otherwise, on your American passport you can spend up to 6 months out of the year up here but can't work or qualify for healthcare, etc.

    PNP query

You most certainly DO NOT have to have a secured job offer-- the provincial officer can decide you have a needed/desired skill or education and qualify you as a nominee based on that. This for the Atlantic provinces anyway. I did not have a specific offer when I applied. Because I'm in...
