COPR & Record of Landing Lost.

When we landed in September, it was a mad house in YVR - very busy. During our landing process, which took no more than 5 minutes (after waiting for 7 hours in queue) we realized the next day that they took both copies of the COPR, and we never got a record of landing! Not a damn thing. What...

Airport (YVR) took both our COPR copies!

Thank you for the info. Looks like we will need to apply for a replacement.

Airport (YVR) took both our COPR copies!

Question - We did our landing mid September through YVR which, despite a lengthy (4 hour) queue was not too bad. The officer however took both our COPR copies. How important is the personal COPR copy? I am not even sure what was on it outside of it saying we have no conditions. When we...

    fees iin total

If your wife is only sponsoring you, and no dependant children, then the fees in total will be $1040. She can pay all at once which will speed things up, or you can pay the Sponsorship portion immediately, and allow them to ask for payment when they begin processing your Application at a much...

We submitted in June 30, and got our passport back on Aug 6. (it went Decision Made three weeks after being submitted). The PPR form you got does say you can contact them after a month for a status update. Fingers crossed you get it soon!

Thanks, and yes it was great news.. Now we just wait to get our passport back and we are out of here. My wife is very much looking forward to moving to Vancouver and our child will be starting school in 2015 so the timing is good.

Opinions on best cities to settle in?

Edmonton is not too bad, but you should seriously consider Calgary instead as it is a far more 'sane' city (road-wise) and better winters. We will be heading to Vancouver, but if we had to choose an alternative, it would certainly be Calgary.

How to Apply for Canadian PR directly without hiring a consultant

You certainly do not need to hire a consultant to help with your application. The application kit is laid out in a very easy to follow manner that should not be difficult at all to do by yourself. (This said, it still took us several months to prepare everything we needed for our application).

    ECAS SHOWED DECISION MADE

Most get this via email, however we never did. Instead, they sent us a large envelope via post mail that had all our relationship proofs (photos, invites, etc.) along with the PPR instructions.

    Refused for spousal sponsorship

Why didn't you send everything they needed when you submitted your application? It is clearly stated in their checklist - having them request documents piece by piece only delays your application, and risks refusal for the specific reason you just posted about. Did you send your primary...

    Confirmation of Permanent Residence

When you get the documents, you will have until January 8, 2015 to travel to Canada and land as a PR. If you do not arrive in Canada by that date, well... you don't want that. You should have until the PR's expiry to pick it up - my suggestion is do it sooner rather than later. ;)

    Option C Printout Alternative?

If you are abroad, and cannot provide an Option C printout (like myself), then simply include a letter stating so. The check is primarily to determine if you have been on social services within the last year.

    Letter from employer

I live and work in Thailand for the past 6 years. When we did our application, I don't recall there being a checklist item for employment letter, just proof that you will be moving to Canada with your spouse when the visa is approved. I got my company to give me a yearly salary statement which...

    Late GCMS Notes

You need Access to Information, and not Privacy (Privacy is free from what I remember). When you select the correct category, it will prompt you for the $5 via VISA at the end.

How many envelopes did you send for Outbound Application? 2 or 3?

We sent everything in one large briefcase style folder (Hello Kitty and in pink no less) which had everything nice and organized.

Got my notes in 60 days. I got no reply from them, so I contacted our MP which got the ball rolling a little faster.
