    Is it really worth it?

I want to share my experience with one couple in Canada. Please note this is just one instance and in no way is it reflective of other successful individuals. Husband-wife lived in Canada on PR - Didn't have great jobs but saved enough to survive. Husband is an IT professional and got laid...

    Is it really worth it?

Canada is not bad. it's very subjective though. It can be bad for one person depending on where he/she is in life/career/family situation/savings/past experiences/living conditions/current job and the list goes on. It really really depends. And don't under estimate "who do you know". If you know...

I did see more opportunities in development field than admin of course that's everywhere but since Canada IT sector is comparatively smaller the difference is more stark.

Do you mind sharing which tech field you're in please? Thanks.. I still think "tech" field is very general term. And opportunities vary depending on your specific concentration. Unless of course, someone is able and willing to diversify.

No luck with the job. I tried finding a lot but my particular field has very few opportunities here. I got tired and applied in USA and I got a job in USA - applying H1b amendment right now - not sure how it'll go :( . I am gonna see how it goes. By the way, I applied for my wife's visit visa...

Thanks you huya for all youe imputs. Everything you guys said is correct. One new thing I learned recently is TN is non-immigrant visa. So your approved I140 may not do you any good unless your employer is ready for consular processing. I also heard approved I140 may hurt your chances to get TN...

I do see more opportunities if you diversify. Especially if you are good with programming. I see more programmer jobs as well. Can you suggest any places please? I am also thinking Brampton might not be the best place to live. I have no choice right now since I know only one person in Canada...

I am database admin- SQL Server. Both, hiring in Canada is done by HR people and I believe your manager has little say. They take multiple interviews not related to your skills. Jobs opportunities are scarce but if you wait you will get calls may be once every two weeks.

    Moving from USA(H1B) to Canada(PR)

Jobs in Canada as we all know already is not easy to come by. No luck so far. Fot the person who asked anything to be aware of - Canada is not USA. It's different. Think of it as a very nice city in India. This is just my perspective. Another thing people keep telling me here (although I...

Canada is no where close to USA no. I am looking on workopolis and indeed. You will get social security benefits if you complete 40 credits by working a min of 10 years. This is regardless of your immigration status. It doesn't matter if you're in India. However, this is true for India and I...

okay, so i packed and moved to Canada. Had a job interview didn't pan out. Now I am living in Brampton, ON and boy I cannot adjust to Canada at all. The place I live is basically a nicer India. Which I should love. But I guess I am just way too used to USA after living there for 9 years. I think...

Just an FYI guys, - PD Jan 2013. H1 is active and stamped until end of 2019. Canada landing date sept 2014. I am moving to Canada next week. Don't have a job lined up. Wish me luck ! Biggest hurdles in moving - 1. Low Canadian pay and smaller job market in IT (makes you a little worried)...
