Finally, my partner has received his COPR! All we have to do is go down to Pittsburgh to pick up his personal effects. Good luck to everyone! And a word of thanks to Campbell Cohen, who are kind enough to provide access to this free forum.

A decision has been made...now what?

My partner sees that on ECAS as well since it changed to "Decision Made"... Good to know! Nine days and counting.

Remmuh is indeed at stage 2, but as you said tink23, things could be on the right track anyway. Let's face it, successfully predicting what CIC is about to do is practically impossible. We might as well be reading tea leaves!

Processing done within 5 days, no PPR, and the Philippines is not a visa-exempt country... others might have a more definitive answer but I would be concerned. I hope I'm wrong.

Decision made this morning, almost 2 months after our PPR... and a couple of days after I sent them a polite email asking if they needed anything else. :)

Finally, almost 2 months after our PPR, "Decision Made" this morning. I did email them a few days ago asking if they needed anything else, maybe it helped things along! :)

Hi Buffy, You don't send in your passport because you are from a visa-exempt country. But even though they already have a copy of your passport, they may ask for another to be emailed to them. As for the timelines, it's really impossible to tell. We received our PPR on February 6, emailed a...

Of course, but objective information and personal experiences were presented in response to repeated whining, on a forum dedicated to immigration to Canada, about various Canadian disadvantages. One would hope that if we or our spouses didn't want to be in Canada, we wouldn't be writing here.

Canada is doing better than the U.S. on such indicators as GDP per capita, life expectancy, crime, income equality and respect for human rights. It is a fact that foreign-born citizens often have difficulty having their credentials and experience recognized. But no one is owed an interesting...

It is to be expected that a country with 10 times the population would have more employment opportunities for the very highly educated. But there are other factors than one's own personal situation - but then again, that would be a very Canadian point of view. For instance, I would be unable to...

My American partner, who is close to retirement age, cannot wait to leave the U.S. either and we never even considered that I would move in with him. Over the years I visited him dozens of times, and my opinion of the country has deteriorated. Frankly, I would never live there - not that it...

    US outland applicants' thread :)

My partner had to mention his four step-brothers and step-sisters. He never lived with them and met them just a few times in his life, and he's 60! He didn't even know where some of them lived, but we drew the line at hiring a detective to find out! ;D

Insurance for those on Work Permits?

Indeed, some banks do sell insurance through subsidiaries but they are heavily restricted as to how much they can promote their insurance products through their banking operations. It might be why you were told to Google it, however rude that might have seemed.
