Thread for Outland LONDON, UK Applications!

Hi everyone! I finally landed yesterday afternoon after getting off the plane from Ireland. Once I got off I was a bit wary of the queues. It took about 20 minutes to get through the regular passport queue. I handed the CBSA officer my landing card and I explained I wasn't sure if I was...

Thread for Outland LONDON, UK Applications!

So, since the forum won't let me start a new topic, I thought I'd ask my friends in the London, UK, thread. I am landing next Tuesday (FINALLY!) and am hoping I won't screw it up. The only thing that has me worried is that the COPR didn't really come with a checklist or even just a list of...

    Lost Passport After Receiving COPR?

sakamath: Yes, LOTS of photocopies! Thanks for the suggestion. :) I'm guessing this is the kind of situation that would require me to actually be in the situation to know exactly what the procedure is, but I can definitely take several copies of all the pages in my passport. The reason I'm so...

    Lost Passport After Receiving COPR?

Hi everyone! I'm preparing to go home to Ireland for a visit next week and intend to land with my COPR upon my return to Canada in late April. I am super excited, but also REALLY paranoid and trying to think of every possible 'bad' situation possible as landing is really scary, especially alone...

If you're applying through London and have gotten Decision Made, chances are you won't have to send anything. The COPR (confirmation of permanent residence) is on its way to you in the post and that's what you need to land at the border/point-of-entry when coming to Canada.

My COPR ARRIVED! It says issued on February 9, so it must have been around the world since then (it does look a bit bashed!) but it's HERE! Update the spreadsheet! Release the doves! Roll out the red carpet!

Absolutely, it is allowed. One of the advantages of applying outland is that you can still visit Canada freely. It's right there in the CIC ... rules? Is that what you would you call them. Terms? Either way, outland applicants are still welcome in Canada on visitors' visas. As long as you don't...

Thread for Outland LONDON, UK Applications!

Don't worry -- we submitted our application with copies of four leases, only two of which had both our names on them (the others were one with his name, one with mine) and we shared no bills, because they were either in my housemate's name or in the landlords' names. Literally, the only thing...

My lawyer emailed this morning to say he was just going through Friday's post and that my COPR had arrived!! EEK! I have to arrange a time with his office to go in and pick it up. He won't be there and he said he can't risk leaving it with the receptionist so I'm waiting to hear back from his...

Thread for Outland LONDON, UK Applications!

Nope! We accumulated our year of living together between Ireland, the UK, and Canada. I actually remember reading (don't ask me where! I have no idea) about a couple that spent all of their time travelling and had no lease but just plane tickets, hotel receipts, etc., to prove that they had been...

Thread for Outland LONDON, UK Applications!

Hey Rebecca, That's what we did! Actually, it seems a lot of people do it. We applied outland via London (Ireland doesn't have an office -- boo!) even though we live in Toronto. Everything goes to Mississauga first, for sponsorship approval of your Canadian sponsor! After that, Mississauga will...

No way of knowing, really, at least I don't think so. You'll be getting it back in a week -- that's no time! I know waiting is difficult (I can't sit still because my COPR is arriving "any day now")... Seven days to go until you can pick it up! :D

Yeah it's the "usually" that has me worried! That just for some reason they'd decide it needed to be 14 days from the date they sent it or something silly! The fact that I can't find any reference to COPR expiry on the CIC website also has me thinking I should hold off on booking anything just yet!

Thread for Outland LONDON, UK Applications!

Still nothing in the post today. Found some cheap flights to take a wee trip home in April but am holding off until the COPR arrives because I don't want to book them only to get the COPR and realise it expires before my return flight. I would be coming back on April 24 so my COPR should (if...

Nope! I had emailed and said, "Getting anxious now as I'm not sure you have the right address," and the response I got was, "We posted these documents to the address we have on file for you. Please do not contact us to make any more enquiries until you receive this documents." HMM! Despite the...

    COPR Expiring

Okay! So we've been in touch with London and they said they posted the application to our lawyer (at the correct address, thank goodness!) and that it was mailed on March 8 (last Thursday). By my logic it should arrive before the end of the week or early next week. Hurray! I'm looking to fly...

Thread for Outland LONDON, UK Applications!

SO, London finally emailed me back (after the email last Monday, March 5) and said that they posted my papers on Thursday, March 8 and to please not contact them about anything until I receive the documents that have been put in the post. At least now I know it's on the way!

September 2011 - Here we go!

So we have a small update! Despite ecas showing an incorrect address and the name of our old lawyer, our paper work from London is apparently on its way. The day after I emailed London asking for an update, our lawyer contacted us to say he 'had gotten word from London' that we had been approved...
