Question - Denied Entry to US to flagpole

UPDATE: My husband and I drove to the US on Friday for a wedding. When we went to get the I-94 and got to the question about whether he'd been denied entry, we explained about when he landed, and the guy said "yes, flagpole, put No to the question" and I asked if he would do the same for ESTA...

Question - Denied Entry to US to flagpole

I believe it would cost about $2 a minute to call. I also heard that they will just repeat what is online, which says you will need a visa even if you are from a visa waived country if you have every been rejected. However, the circumstances of the rejection are a bit different. I hoped to...

Question - Denied Entry to US to flagpole

If anyone has any insight, that would be great. I basically want to know how to travel to the US with a permanent resident (British Citizen) if we did the falgpole process and therefore he received a technical "denial of entry to the US". When driving or flying, what is required? I have read...

Question - Denied Entry to US to flagpole

Karlshammar, Thank you, this is a relief. By the way, do you have a copy of the administrative denial? Was yours also to process permanent residency by flagpoling? I assume then, when it asks if he has been denied entry (either for purposes for ESTA or Visa) he would say NO? The US official...

Question - Denied Entry to US to flagpole

I read another thread about flagpole landing and how you are denied entry to US but that it has no effect on future trips. This is what happened to my husband, we were told he was "denied entry" for the purposes of processing his residency in Canada. The US official said it was so that if Canada...

Question about Name on OHIP and SIN Cards

I was simply explaing WHY I was concerned. vamsi001 provided some insight that I was resonding to. In terms of what I expect, what everyone else does on this forum; people to provide insight, if they have any. I don't expect miracles and certainly don't intend to annoy anyone with my questions...

Question about Name on OHIP and SIN Cards

Hi vamsi001, Thank you for your message. I think this all came about for us because when applying for both SIN and health cards they said they would record his name that way, not just display it on his card. His full name is not registered, it is the incomplete one. If it was just displayed on...

Question about Name on OHIP and SIN Cards

Hi MARLENA, How do you change it legally? It is already his legal name, isn't it? Thanks, Canbrit

Question about Name on OHIP and SIN Cards

Hi Karlshammar, Yes I understand that the PR card and confirmaiton of permanent residency is limited to 15 characters, but I wasn't clear that this would mean the SIN and Heath Card would also have to be set up this way. I thought it would be possible to get these in his full name. Did yours...

Question about Name on OHIP and SIN Cards

Wow, really?! This is now worrying me, too. His first and last name are correct, it's the middle name that is not complete due to the limitation on the PR Card. Do you know what the legal process is? If the PR card cannot handle more characters, how would we go about updating the SIN and Health...

Question about Name on OHIP and SIN Cards

Question about Name on OHIP and SIN Cards

Hello, My husband landed last weekend, and today we went to update his SIN and Health Card (OHIP). His Confirmation of Permanent Residency truncated his Given Name by a character from Christopher John to Christopher Joh (no n on the end) as the limit is 15 characters (including spaces). When we...

    Landed Today (October 31st)

Thanks, rjessome. At the start we were a bit concerned that she took his work permit, because we hadn't read about that before. But it's not required anymore, anyway, so we stopped worrying!

    Landed Today (October 31st)

Hi dfb, When she gave us back his passport with the COPR inside it, she said "I keep these" when referring to his work permit and his old expired ones, so we assume it was normal. I guess the idea being he no longer needs them as he is a permanent resident? Has anyone else had this? I think if...

    Landed Today (October 31st)

My husband and I are just back from landing at Prescott, ON/Ogdensburg, NY. We crossed the bridge and paid the $3 toll. Then when we got to the border told the agent that we wanted to go back to Canada to land (this particular person was quite rude, I said we wanted to cross back into Canada to...

Questions about Landing (and a Thank You!)

We have now received my husband's passport back and COPR. Thanks to everyone on the forum for all their input and advise over the last 9 months or so!! I can't believe we are finally at the stage of landing. We are planning to land Saturday by driving over the boarder and then crossing back...

CPR Received - Question (Confirmation of Permanent Residence)

We called CIC and they confirmed 15 characters is the max and that we should worry. To be honest the agent we spoke to was pretty rude about it! But at least he confirmed it.

CPR Received - Question (Confirmation of Permanent Residence)

The letter didn't seem to say anything about the lenght of the name. The VISA is ok, it is the COPR that is showing 15 characters (including a space) and therefore dropping the last letter of his middle name. I guess we want to make sure it's correct in the system and just displayed on the COPR...
