    Montreal POE

@amgra, what you heard is right. There are dirty, shabby apartments which may look good in pics, websites etc. What I did was, I took a shared accommodation first and then while staying here I visited the apartments and chose a good one. The shared one did not live up to my expectations - gave...

    Montreal POE

My landing experience was very uneventful, that's why I didn't post it in detail. Well, here goes... I took the British Airways flight via Heathrow. It was very comfortable and it landed almost 1 hour earlier and so I had to spend around 6 hours in transit in Heathrow. My son and I took a good...

Proof of Funds Scotiabank wire transfer issue - any advice?

Update - the whole process went real smooth. IMO, the wire transfer is a very good option because you get the funds available to you right from day 1, unlike a bank draft. You don't need to worry about carrying a whole load of cash on hand either. I got the debit card right away as well...

Proof of Funds Scotiabank wire transfer issue - any advice?

I am all set to land in Montreal airport on this Saturday - 26th. Had a Scotiabank account opened via HDFC in India and wire transferred $10,000 but all I have as proof is a small slip that I got sealed from HDFC at the time of the wire transfer request. I am in touch with a bank officer in...

Points allocation gap between CIO and CHC

You don't have to do anything to get a refund, it will automatically be returned to you via a check, usually within 4-5 months.

What would you advice me to do??????

Which visa office? Maybe you can check out the trend in your visa office at www.trackitt.com. Anyway, I believe 4 months is enough time to at least send a case-specific enquiry.

    Proof of 'Landing Funds" >>>

Great post, Qorax! Another alternative - I'm considering wire transferring the majority of the required funds directly to my account in Canada using Scotiabank's StartRight Program (I believe you or some other seniors suggested it in another post). I intend to carry some cash also with me. If...

Need Help...Urgent... got mail frm NS, Sydney Credit card info invalid

ryanf, send the DD for the correct amount ASAP. The reason you didn't get an AOR or file number is because the very first step at CIO is encashing the fees. You will get the AOR after they have collected the fees and you are deemed eligible. So, don't waste anymore time. Honor the 30-day...

I, for one, am looking forward to less workload for my child who is in the ICSE stream in India. The portions they cover here is just unbelievable :o Do continue posting srv, there's nothing like hearing it from the horse's mouth! Your tips on the bank, net connection etc. are very useful. Thanks!

    Help about rejection

manjit, that's a valid question. I think if they returned the CIO fees, then they would return the ND fees too. I presume you sent in the processing fees + RPRF to ND. You will definitely get back the RPRF, that's for sure. Again, does your rejection letter mention any refund?

Landed yesterday! Here's my experience so far...

Thanks, Tony, for the detailed post. I'm headed for Montreal too and have been searching for answers to a couple of questions: 1. Did the immigration officers insist on speaking French at the airport? 2. Are they strict on proof of funds? à bientôt à Montreal!

    Visa office eligibilty review complete

Sorry to dash your hopes, missioncanada, but just wanted to warn you that my FSW1 was with CHC ND too and I got the rejection letter after my status was changed to this. Hope it's not the case with you.

    application rejected

Sorry to hear your plight, but I agree with jes_ON's observation. When the IO saw that the draft is from your uncle and you only had a property in your name (the valuation of which is subject to many things, and they won't be bothered to look deep into that), s/he must have thought that you...

    Montreal POE

If anybody has completed landing at Montreal POE, could you please let me know if the conversation was entirely in French? Or do we have a choice between French and English? Also, what is the standard passport photo size for Canada? (for giving on other forms like driving license, etc.) Is it...
