17 months later,my Colombian sweetheart celebrates VISA (:

Forgot to say, my wife knew after her interview she would be granted a visa. She had to just go back to Maizales and have her medicals re-done. After one year it expires, and everyone must re-do them. They took a week and one half to go to trindad to be placed in a database, then Bogota...

17 months later,my Colombian sweetheart celebrates VISA (:

Thanx all for your congrats!Seems like everyone in this process is like a family. Maybe so because we all have to really sacrifice so much for who we love, and the priviledge of living in Canada. In answering Ha Nguyen,I did not attend my wife's interview, it was in Bogota Colombia and I am still...

Where can I find information regarding quota of immigrants from colombia?

Thanx Karls., that would make sense, strange that a lady at the embassy would bring it up. My son's fiance is studying Canadian immigration. She mentioned something about a quota system, but was not sure if that was in the past or present. Maybe there is a present "quota" system of sorts for...

Hola,,Ojala, mi espanol,,,estoy aprendiendo, pero muy despacio. I went to Colombia twice in 2008, and married Lucy. Very funny, because my spanish is very "mas o menos", and no one in her famly speaks english. 2 really good things. I would think if you already had a vistor visa , you would have...

    Canada Post Problems?

I used Xpress post, and it worked fine.I am sure with over 99% of cases it is fine..But maybe like a lottery (only a negative spin),odds of winning it once are very small, winning it twice is insanely small, and yet it has happened. I feel bad for anyone who has problems with postal service, as...

    bogota office

As some have said, you can try for a visitor's visa, but very sadly, I think very few people can get one from south america. I didn't try for my wife because, I read it may take 3 months , and then just get a letter saying it was denied. I have a friend. His wife is from Panama. Her sister in...

    BOOOOO...medical again

hm? may I ask what countries we are talking about? My wife just passed her interview in Bogota, then went to another city for her medicals. She said she was fine. As Toby said, I think they send the results to a canadian center. Her's is sent to Trinidad. Maybe all offices in south america send...

Will there be problems landing in U.S. en route to Canada ?

I understand the concept of keeping our countries secure,,,but isn't all this really going to affect a lot of the travel industry? Geesh, I have dual american/canadian citizenship, but I pretty mucho forget how to say "Huh"? for good reasons. How bizarre, To be sure of not having issues at the...

Will there be problems landing in U.S. en route to Canada ?

James, from what I saw last week, the Air Canada route Bogota-Toronto-Vancouver price was something like $2200, I think excluding taxes. Bogota-Mexico city-Vancouver for two adults and one 8 year old is about $1290. Appears about falf price. Also would be nice to land in Vancouver, then not be...

Will there be problems landing in U.S. en route to Canada ?

Toby, I am a bit lost as regarding "my visa" to enter Canada. I went to Colombia in 2007 and 2008. I just had my passport. Didn't need a visa to go there,so when I come to Mexico, I will just have my passport as a Canadian citizen. Surely I don't need a visa to enter Mexico? Our flight would be...

Will there be problems landing in U.S. en route to Canada ?

Thanx again PMM, looks like the only safe way is Air Canada , Bogota-Toronto-Vancouver. I wish there were a cheaper direct flight, but it appears Air Canada pretty much has a monoply on that route. Not much canadian/international competion. Well, it will just be wonderful to soon be through this...

Will there be problems landing in U.S. en route to Canada ?

Interesting comment about mexico,,my next question was ? There is a flight from Bogota to Mexico city, then to Vancouver,,that would be perfect if I wouldn't have problems in Mexico...Any thoughts appreciated..If I have to go to Toronto, ok, but it is over $1,000 more for air canada flights...

Hi, after waiting 15 months, my wife just had her interview in Bogota. She just has to have her medical re-done, and will recieve her visa. Medical exames are good for one year. Maybe in a few situations they wiave it a bit after, but I think it is almost always neccesary after one year.
