    oct 2013 applicant

Hey! I can't post the name of the doctor online...believe it or not, there are laws about that - I (Canadian partner of applicant) have a chronic illness, and talk a lot on online forums. This is actually one of the basic things they make you promise before joining the group!! However, I can...

Got an email at 7:56 pm PST! RPFR Request! I did my medicals today in Vancouver. :) It's a matter of weeks now for some of us, I think! For the rest of you, we're here to support you through the wait. Question (that I am sure has been answered) - when I get the passport request, what...

    oct 2013 applicant

I'm actually the partner of the applicant (I've been dealing with a lot of the phone calls/whatever paperwork I can). I'm a Canadian, and my common-law partner is from France. Since I didn't need to apply as well, she's a single applicant. :)

    Question about medical exams

Hi! I'm posting this on behalf of my partner (who applied for PR in October in CIC). She has a few mild medical problems (allergies, an injured leg from a chiropractor, and is on an anti-depressant). How easy is it to fail the medical (notably with respects to mental health concerns)? I saw the...

    Got my AOR... Now what?

So, is it standard to get your AOR before you send your police certificate?

Confused about common law paperwork, and AOR + police check

Also, she has a class C LMO excemption right now (something about being an artist = you don't need an LMO). I believe it was processed in France. is there any chance she can apply to extend that? Or, is this not an option due to the strike? ... or, is something like this simply not extend-able...

Confused about common law paperwork, and AOR + police check

Hey guys! My partner is getting ready to submit her PR application. Her work permit expires in December, so we're in a bit of a crunch to get everything in on time for her to get her open work permit... She's sitting with an immigration consultant right now, and he's telling her the following...

September 2011 - Here we go!

We're going to have ours in for the 31st of September (we've got all the paperwork done - we just want to show our lawyer)! We're going through Paris. =) Looking forward (as much as one can look forward to this) to going through the process with all of you!

    Thread for outland Buffalo applicants!

Thank-you so much!!! After spending the last 12 hours on the internet, I *may* have found a class of visa that will get her an open work permit for a year!!! It was tucked away in a corner under some links I've never clicked. I am emailing the embassy for clarification, but it seems like it will...

    Thread for outland Buffalo applicants!

Ok! Thanks for the advice. The only other three people I know who have gone through this process got a lawyer. She doesn't want to go back to France because she has established a life here, and we have established a life here together (she expected to stay for 1.5 more years without any trouble...

Just found out we can't extend my common-law partner's work permit. HELP!

We were thinking, if she needed to be a student, she could perhaps apply and do online courses. But, then maybe she needs a study permit. Waaah. This is all so overwhelming!!! Ideally, we do not want to live apart, but hopefully it does not come to that...

    Thread for outland Buffalo applicants!

It sounds like it might be safer to do the non-inland one and wait (plus, after one factors in the "application in principle" times, she could pretty much have her PR card)... It does take a few months, right? Do you all think it is worth it to hire a lawyer? We're short on cash (notably if she...

Just found out we can't extend my common-law partner's work permit. HELP!

Hmmm, that's worth looking into! We're in Toronto right now, but I wouldn't be opposed to moving to Quebec. I know she prefers it here, but we've got a tough situation. Plus, I've been looking for an excuse to go live there. She's not a student anymore, but maybe she could enrol in a university...

Just found out we can't extend my common-law partner's work permit. HELP!

I wish we could embassy shop! Plus, that's an amazing excuse to take an expensive vacation. Oh well. I am resigning myself to the fact that she might end up unemployed in Canada for 4-11 months, and figuring out how she can occupy herself (legally and with value) while she waits. And, to maybe...

    Thread for outland Buffalo applicants!

My lawyer told us that we could chose Buffalo, Paris or Canada since she has been living in Canada for more than one year, and that seems consistent with what I've read. I am really new to all of this (I thought we could only apply in Canada), so I am just trying to figure out our options...
