Its very tricky to day exact timelines but for me it stayed in that status for about 5.5months. I would highly suggest approaching MP's, I have a feeling that he pushed somewhat and they picked up the file and approved it.

I have similar issue. CIC agent told me they are checking to see if I have taken social assistance from the Canadian govt. Its already 2.5 months since they have been checking. So you really cant do anything other than wait. I have tried all possible ways to understand but all we can do is wait...
