PR CARD NOT RECIEVED, MUST TRAVEL

I think it depends on whether or not you are from a Visa Exempt Country. I am American and had no problem flying without my PR card. I had my record of landing and explained that I had not received it yet.

Police Clearance: Any New Yorkers out there???

I sent in state clearances (incl NY) with my application. My understanding is that it used to be unclear, but now it is required (this was back in June 2009). Not sure if it has changed since then, but when I asked on this forum around that time, someone pointed me to where it said it was now...

PR Card received - less than a month after Landing

Just wanted to let everyone who is curious about timelines know that my PR card arrived today (December 11). I landed at Pearson Airport (Toronto) on November 13. Quicker turnaround than I expected!

PR application while living in CA, background checks

I had to get checks from FBI, PA, NY, and MI. For FBI, NY, and MI, I had to get fingerprints done and mail them in. PA was an online process (no fingerprints) and I just printed out the report. I didn't have any issues. I went to a fingerprinting place in Toronto that is used to doing...

I only brought my passport with visa and my COPR. My sponsor was not with me. They did not ask for anything else.

Air travel to Canada without PR card yesterday - my experience

I am an American citizen who landed 2 weeks ago - I obviously don't have my PR card yet. By way of background, I have lived in Toronto legally for the past 5 years on a work permit. I went back to the US for American Thanksgiving. Today I flew back to Toronto from Newark on Porter Airlines...

Landed Today (even though I was planning to defer...)

Suin - My husband and kids are already Canadian citizens, so it was just me. All - Interestingly, she gave me the copy of the COPR but did not actually staple it to my passport. She just folded it up and stuck it in there.

Landed Today (even though I was planning to defer...)

Thanks! I got the sense that if I had pushed it, they wouldn't have made me land, but I don't know. I was sort of on the fence and they confirmed that there shouldn't be an issue with my future travels, since I am an American, so I was happy to do it today since I was traveling without my...

Landed Today (even though I was planning to defer...)

I am the person who had planned to defer landing b/c I need to travel again before my PR card is expected to come. As background, I am an American citizen who has lived in Canada on a work permit for 5 years. I had to go to NYC on business this week and have 3 trips to the US coming up over...

    Defer landing

I live in Canada but am still planning to defer landing when I return from travel to the US next week. I have a work permit valid until December 2010, so hopefully this should be OK.

First entry to Canada with PR visa

I haven't landed yet, so I don't have personal experience with this, but have heard that I won't have to land on my first entry into Canada (I am planning to wait until a time when I won't be travelling for 8 weeks - enough time to get my PR card)

First entry to Canada with PR visa

I think your big issue could be getting your PR card. Do you have an address in Canada that they will be able to send it to? If not, you may consider not landing when you come next week.

    Landed Today (October 31st)

Thanks Rjessom. PMM actually responded on another topic post and said that I can land at any time - no requirement to do it right away. Regarding my trip(s) - I know that when I go to clear customs, Immigration will see in the computer that I am a PR and let me through. My concern is that...
