I am to be married next year and moving to BC (this month). I dont know how to go about getting an engagement visa. Is there such a thing and where do I start?

I am moving to Canada within the next two months or so and I have absolutely NO idea where to begin. Of course I don't want to give up my US citizenship, I just want to move to be with my boyfirend and get married next year. Anyone know where I start? Thanks for any help you can provide.
