    Just be sure to indicate on your new application that you have an existing application in process, it should not be a problem however you need to disclose that you have two applications.

    Money and a job is only part of it. Any substantial ties to the US will be relevant. You can provide a letter from a family member detailing how all of your family and friends are in the US. Any other ties; pets, membership in specific organizations, etc will be helpful

    It is my understanding that the first time you enter Canada with a Canadian visa that will count as activation, you do not have a choice as to when the visa will be activated. But I would always check with a lawyer

    You can also look into getting your fingerprints done digitally, sometimes this helps when the ink-based fingerprinting method does not work. Good luck

    You have to be careful with UK Police Clearances, they can come back with no trace or no live trace. The UK has a system where old offences are not listed on your certificate, however it will say no live trace which implies that there was an old conviction.

    Be careful because if the crime was committed in Canada, which is how they compare the offenses, you could be charged under 175 of the Canadian Criminal Code.

    Always be careful traveling with cash, if you cross the border with too much cash you could have to pay duties.

    You don't need digital fingerprints but I find that getting fingerprints done digitally almost guarantees the fingerprints won't be returned to you (this happened to me a few times)
