    My friend from the same city got his PPR in June and they got her passport back with the visa in roughly 3 weeks.

    Check the ECAS status and my wife's status has been changed to "In progress". States that they started processing her application on the 9th of September.

    Same here ECAS says "In progress" as well. Says they started processing her application on the 9th, got the PPR on the 10th, and we mailed it off on the 11th. Interested to see how long we will wait now.

    Canadian living abroad sponsorship of spouse living abroad

    Agreed, I've lived in China for the past 7 years and sponsored my wife without a problem. You just have to be able to prove you'll return to Canada as well as stay there. I've heard people write letters of intent or send in acceptance letters to post secondary schools.

    Congrats on the AOR2 bud, ya a birth certificate was requested. It was on the checklist.

    I provided it right at the get go as they asked for a birth certificate. Seems different provinces would have you go to different places to get it. In Heilongjiang we were required to go back to police station where her hukou was issued. Thankfully for us it was only an hour drive.

    Hey mpeng76, I was in the same boat as you. My wife was born in 1983 so wasn't issued a birth certificate. What we were told to do was go to where her Hukou was issued. They can issue a paper saying when she was born and it will prove her relationship to her parents. You'll have to have it...

    Who knows about the delays. I am hoping that everyone was just on holiday this summer and are now back at work. We've made our daughter a Canadian Citizen so ill have to make a trip to Beijing this month anyways to get her a Canadian passport. Be interesting to see how long the wait will be for...
